An article by Daniel Storey of the i just about sums it up perfectly :-

"Another four goals conceded, another superbly damning xG scoreline: Southampton 0.13-4.01 Brighton. When the good news from your Saturday afternoon is that your team probably should have lost by six or seven goals at home and didn’t, it must be tempting to take the rest of the season off.

"I’m honestly getting sick of watching Southampton and writing about them. They are a joke because they play as if they are in mid-table comfort. I understand that heads have gone down because relegation has looked a certainty from October onwards and it must be hard to play in front of supporters who are going out of habit and grim loyalty rather than expectation.

"But my goodness: try to give them something to be proud of. Nobody is calling for prison-rule football, but my goodness it is frustrating to watch how easy opposition teams have it against Southampton, and I’m not even a supporter. There seems to be no plan for creating chances or stopping their opponents creating them, but worse than that there seems to be no ambition to make life harder for the other team.

"Nobody tracks runs. Nobody seems to want to sprint to put a tackle in. Nobody wants to defend for their lives other than as a tardy reaction to a mistake, either in technical prowess or concentration. Everybody seems to act as if ugly football is beneath them, rather than a typical ingredient of a promoted club battling to stay up (or, in this case, avoid points records).

"I can take my club losing most weeks. I cannot take my club looking like they accept defeat without putting up a fight nor having a logical strategy to avoid conceding three or four goals in every game."
Most of us have been thinking along these lines for a while, what concerns me is why doesn't the club hierachy see it?

Pretty well sums up the whole club at the moment including us supporters who ARE going out of habit and grim loyalty

Love the "good news from your Saturday afternoon is that your team probably should have lost by six or seven goals at home and didn’t" line

I've got a huge amount of sympathy for the players.

Both Martin and Juric have been setting them up to play in ways that make it almost impossible for them to succeed.

I can't get out of my head quite how poorly Juric set things up defensively on Saturday.

A back line which included players playing out of position and almost no midfield defensive support in front of them. I have this image in my head of a strung out piece of string stretched from one touchtime to the other as the only defence between Brighton and the goalkeeper. It was just so easy for them to smash through it.

4 at the back playing as defenders with 2 defensive midfielders in front of them is not exactly rocket science in terms of frustrating an opposition.

Let's see what the clown conjures up tonight.

Imagine how shocking the scorelines would have been if we'd hadn't had Ramsdale in goal. It makes you wonder what will happen next season.

Zombies run faster when they get the scent of fresh meat than our players did against Brighton….

Our next transfer window makes me think of that moment in a horror film when one of the captives, with a terrified look in their eyes, tries to warn the next victim to stay away.

I think that might apply equally to the already captive supporters trying to warn off potential victims from taking up the newly available seats vacated by this season’s ST holders. In keeping with the film genre, Shaun & Ed had the best idea in Shaun of the Dead, stay in the pub!

Who cares, he's hit the nail square on the head, my season ticket will sit empty for the rest of the season, and if I can't see any passion from club or players then it WON'T be getting
re-newed, FU=K the championship.

He's a football journalist working for The i newspaper. He has also written for The Telegraph, Daily Mirror, BBC, The Guardian & Sky Sports. Seems to me, particularly with this article, he knows what he is talking about!
