Hard to escape when there’s not another car on the road isn’t it?

Can’t be many times where a character in a film gets killed and then a TV show spin-off is made of him - which ran and ran - Dixon of Dock Green.

It was literally a slum back then.

One of our old posters on the Rivals board, Ron Gould, was in that film.
One of the kids playing football at the start of the film. Filmed in Paddington by the Grand Union I believe.

West London LaLaLa was my user name on the old Rivals forum.
Should’ve stuck with that name because now people on here occasionally think I am actually Peter Hucker. (I’m not)

Lovely to get home after sitting in the perpetual traffic jam that is Ladbroke Grove these days and then watch this.

Crazy how much area has changed. Have to say I prefer the old look. And traffic.

Well everybody knows down in Ladbroke Grove
you have to leap across the street
you can lose your life under a taxi cab
you've got to have eyes on your feet

One Man Band
Leo Sayer

My Great Grandmother died in a traffic accident on Ladbroke Grove, before my time.

On the side of the road where the camera was, there was a pub built on a slope called the Admiral Blake but locals called it the Cowshed. Trumans ale so that was good.
Legend has it that a bass guitar stolen from Paul McCartney was unknowingly bought by the pub Guv, and wasn't seen again for 50 years.
Anyone remember ?

It was called the Cowshed because it used to a 'knocking shop'.I much preferred the Narrow Boat across the road which was a Fullers house.

I have to correct that assertion as a matter of historical fact and a friend’s memory.
My best mate’s dad ran the Admiral Blake, late ‘60s into the ‘70s. Ron would never have stood for any of that sort of carry-on.

Also, the Narrow Boat (Wally & Irene) was a great little pub, but it was on the Ladbroke Grove canal bridge further back towards Kensal Green.

Had to jump in there, apols.

the narrow boat was a good one, not so good coming out when you were 3 parts....

That pub mysteriously burnt down just in time to widen the bridge.

Great clip, and the only film I've seen that uses real names with footage shot in the area,

Beer and Beef has made us what we are - The Prince Regent

Beat me to it!

From the time when livestock markets were a common thing in London. Lots of pubs derived their business from being on coaching routes.

Narrow Boat was great, a real loss.

Three big blocks going up on the corner of Barlby and Ladbroke Grove at the moment opposite where the Admiral used to be.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Growing up we were told it was called the Cowshed because of the cattle sheds that were along Admiral Mews.

Fck me - I remember when Police Cars (and Fire Engines) had bells and not sirens. (Mind you, I knew I was old last week when I reached the top of the allotment waiting list).

just the end of a long chain of high rises, stretching all up wood lane, du cane road, east acton, western avenue, old oak lane and more......

standing in wormwood scrubs is becoming more like central park.

I had my first pint of ESB in there. I remember saying to my fiancee, it doesn't seem that strong to me.
I soon found out…

It’s just horrible, isn’t it. The only way is up. One of the good things about our bit of suburban West London is that it’s not going double high rise in Hillingdon. Just a matter of time.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

is this Narrow Boat the same pub that was called the Western Arms when I used to go there? (90s/early 2000s)
