Subs last night.... 07:33 - Feb 5 with 2792 viewsthehat

I thought on the whole they were great again and changed the game back into our favour especially the Colback sub.

Big discussion in the car on the way home was would it of been better bring Kolli on instead of Lloyd. Kolli seems to be better at keeping possession and the patten of the game was more suited to him especially at home on a tighter pitch. Lloyd could be better away from home on bigger pitches where there is more space to run behind.

Be good to hear other thoughts on this - It's great having these options as they all seem to give you something different depending on the situation.

Re: pee'd off unused subs.
I would of thought that was a healthy sign. It's when they don't give a toss, I start to worry.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

The subs were a big factor on both sides. I thought Eustace's changes actually lost Blackburn momentum that they'd built at the beginning of the second half. Marti's changes then swung the momentum back in QPR's favour. The 2 in midfield had worked very hard in the face of physical, aggressive opponents but were tiring. Colback was tailor made for such a match and made a big difference when he came on. Not just in terms if his goal but wrestling back control of the midfield and helping to see out the game fairly comfortably.

I thought exactly the same. When I saw Cantwell come on I almost laughed. He's the last person I'd pick in a scrap.

Ya, me too.

The thought was "why would you change things now?".

Under normal circumstances I'd be slightly concerned about Cantwell's appearance as on his day he's a quality player. However, as you say this particular game was a scrap and Cantwell was well out of his comfort zone. Colback, on the other hand, is built for this.

Whatever his reasons, it reminded me somewhat of our recent game at Hull where Marti lost momentum with his first set of subs. The difference there was we were leading 2-0 and after Hull scored Marti restored order with his next set of subs.
