901 reasons to question free speech 07:50 - Jan 22 with 326 viewsJellybaby

As my tagline suggests I am a big advocate of free speech and during the eye of the c19 storm, this forum allowed a lot of debate to it's credit, so why has it now seen fit to remove a feisty yet fairly routine debate around Trump?

The thread starter asked for it's removal when presumably they felt it wasn't going the way they wanted, but others have asked and not been granted this in the past. What is the rationale behind this decision please?

This was my last post on the thread below - was this gently mocking post the catalyst? I suppose I will find out if the censors remove this too. All a bit 1984....

Haha, this literally made me laugh out loud.

1. Moderator, moderator, stop the thread, he's ruined it for me! You're not a geezer are you 901? In fact who are you 901? A former pro footballer you said once and now you are hobnobbing with 100 plus politicians on both sides of the Atlantic? Impressive credentials 901 or are you a fantasist?

2. What is not so impressive are your facts, which you share with others every chance you get. I have never denied mass killings, what I said was I didn't know and I didn't believe everything I saw on the TV. That is different 901, try attention to detail

3. I must admit I saw your response to me as a small victory as a uturn it was quite spectacular!

Anyway, moderator, moderator stop the thread it's forever ruined.😁

I removed this thread because I was requested to do so by the original poster, I didn't apply any criteria to the removal of the thread, whether the person asking was in the right or wrong, I was asked to remove it so did so.

This site remains a bastion of free speech, very few threads or posts are removed, even if I totally disagree with them, but if someone requests something they posted to be removed, then I usually do so and in this case as it was the original post in the thread, that meant the whole thread went as well.

You are of course free to start threads of your own and if someone who was not you asked for it to be removed then I would look at it from the perspective of have the boundaries been crossed in terms of racism, homophobia etc been crossed, if not have any of the posts been aggressive & abusive to others, if not then a thread would usually remain, it would not be removed just because someone disagreed with the opinions of others.

Thank you Nick, I appreciate your reply and the clarity of it.

I agree that this site has been a bastion for free speech, but if a thread starter can pull it at whim when it doesn't go there way, then you could lose that reputation. However, your site, your rules and I certainly appreciate the work you do, thank you.

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.
