I remember going to this fixture a few years back for a televised lunchtime kick off . It meant getting up at something like 3am and thinking that fixtures like this should not be allowed to happen. It's just not fair on the travelling fans.
I see TNT SPORTS have got Newcastle v Boscombe live on tv saturday 12:30 kick off.
I have no love for either club. but i do feel for the cherries fans that are making the trip for the privilege of watching their team play in the worst away supporting view in the premiership.
Surely lunchtime fixtures should be for more local matches, or say to clubs within a 100 mile radius.

We had this last season.
We stayed in Newcastle on the Friday night, was the only vaguely enjoyable way of doing it.
I remember having a drink pre-match in Sunderland, where we ran into a number of fans who had travelled up in the morning by coach.
They looked like zombies.
We had a pretty good following up there, about 1,500 or so.
Who were all rewarded for their efforts with a 5-0 pummelling, which could have been 8 or 9…… |  |

Are you having a laugh? The PL produces a TV programme that is shown all over the world and makes billions of pounds every year. The TV channels decide which matches they want to show and when. The PL has no interest whatsoever in a couple of thousand away fans. |  |

Even worse now that they seem to have 3 games starting at 12.30pm each Saturday for screening by SKY. This will heavily impact us next season, as SKY are bound to want to show us quite a bit.

Yep, next season will be much worse for fixture changes for us with multiple Friday night and Saturday 12.30 games. Added to the fact there's so many northern clubs in the Championship, it's going to be pretty frustrating getting to games. [Post edited 13 Jan 14:46]

We've driven up on the day (for 3pm ko, crack of dawn leaving) before as well as fly on the day but you have to have a night with the "views" in the bars on a cold winter night by the side of the Tyne!!  | | | |

When I used to go to the Premier League HQ with the Football Supporters Association for meetings, this sort of thing was brought up all the time, the then CEO Richard Scudamore said then that although the PL tried to avoid games being played at inconvenient times when the away team had a long distance to travel, the fact was that the TV companies call the shots, whether its Bournemouth or West Ham travelling to Newcastle or similar, its about when they can best sell it to the countries that will pay big bucks for the priviledge of showing it..
Doesn't matter what day or time it is in the UK, it's what time it is in the USA, Australia, the Far/middle East etc that dictates .
Of course since Sport Republic bought the Greenwich observatory and thus are responsible for Greenwich mean time things have got worse |  |

It would be difficult to get every Premier League game played at a time that suits all countries,it is also about fitting in games at 12.30 so they can spread the kick off times and can get another game televised and maximise those watching on TV here and in Europe.
12.30 in England is 20.30 in China, 15.30 in Dubai, 18,00 in India, to be fair its only inconvenient to Australia where it's 23.30 or the Americas where it's 07.30 in New York & 04.30 in LA. | |
