I would hope that he's realising that we need something from this game. Ideally three points, but at least one.
From what I've seen of Leicester, they are slow starters but once in the game, they are hard to break down. It seems that Vardy has found a new lease of life (probably needs the win bonuses to pay his wife's legal fees) and that Leicester have found a way to suit his playing style which is essentially to move the ball forward quickly. I think this is why their away record is what it is, because home teams tend to press.
I would not blame RM for picking a team which is defensive. He does however need to close that long ball to quick strikers and that needs a high press or a low block. Playing a low block at home will literally win him no fans but may be required because the team is not drilled enough to put on a high press.
Whichever mix and match defenders are played, they are good to give up at least two chances a match. He therefore has to assume that a clean sheet is unlikely and therefore we need to score.
He has no forwards in form and instead must look to set pieces. Here I think we could profit.
Most of all he needs to resist experimenting with players and positions. Dibling is a talent but is not a CF. I can see the issue in trying to play Dibling with AA. Therefore the letter is on the bench.
Cornet has failed to impress, but I would play him is only to keep the full back occupied and stop that long out ball Leicester play.
As a central striker, it frankly matters little because they're all much the same. He could do worse than start Tall Paul and just get the ball in the box and play percentages. That is alien to him of course but perhaps necessary. | | | |

Let us not forget that the best thing that happened last season was Bazohno getting broken. Without that stroke of luck we would be a championship club this season.
The players ARE good enough to stay up, with the right inputs but we are not getting them from Russell Martin.
