Marti, please don’t tell me again that the players did not do as you asked of them or any other lame excuses. This match and much of what has happened so far this season is on you and your team selections and the way you want them to play. It doesn’t work. It hasn’t worked all season and I suspect if you continue it will not work for the rest of the season. I have been bored stiff so far watching Rangers this season, ponderous, lethargic, no movement, no pace and not a lot else either. It’s all on you as a manager. The first goal today was down to zonal marking at a corner and the cross could have gone to any of half a dozen Derby players and they would have had a free header. The second goal was schoolboy stuff, not much difference to that fourth goal that Blackburn got against us under Ainsworth last season. Utter dog toffee the whole lot has been apart from maybe Nardi, Dunne, Cook and Frey.
He seemed to swerve the ''And was the big difference between the two sides today the physicality between both Derby and Rangers'' question. It was a large factor.

He's been found out by the opposition. That's his fault, and the players available to him. Will Colback, JCS Varane and Morrison change things. Who knows...but they can't be worse than the present incumbents. I know I keep saying it, but there are just no goals or match winners in this squad.

Very lightweight all round. Where has Alfie Lloyd gone ?, who I would really like to see up front. Going to be a long hard winter if we have to watch the dross being served up at the moment, the performances are becoming more abject game by game to be honest.

He points out the problems very clearly in his interview. We have signed a certain style of player etc. unfortunately they are not the style of player required in the Championship unless they are very good not bang average. He has created the problem by totally misunderstanding what this division is all about. He chunters on about different styles of play but doesn't seem to realise what he bought is not good enough to compete against the strong, determined typical Championship player. He asked for a type of player and got it partly i am sure because Nourri doesn't have the experience to say that wont work here . We are bang in trouble . All an opposition has to do is close us down fast, get in some strong tackles and we can't cope. Marti worked with what he had last year to great effect. In the summer he had the chance to mould a team in his vision but unfortunately that vision was completely misguided. We pin our hopes on Chair, JCS and even Fox all last years players. Never a mention of a new signing being a hope bar Nardi. Madson , Santos, Varane all weak and unable to cope with the physicality. Dembele and Saito and Celar in the same category, This is a physical league and we signed powder puffs.

I think Marti needs to stop and start again. Trying to go too far the other way too quickly. We don't have a player who can distribute from the back when JCS isnt there and no one in midfield shows for it. Field for all his defensive attributes is not good in possession. The tempo of a move breaks down when it comes to him because he always goes safety first. We need a midfielder in there who can get the ball and start moves. EDB always at least tried to play forward. Maybe Field has to just sit in front of the back four and give the ball to someone else, just don't know who. Colback will add some bite but his legs look like they have gone. Varane looks better. He isn't being brushed off the ball as much so maybe he can start moves. Dunne back to right back and JCS or Fox next to Cook. Then we need a left footer there for the balance.
If you want a possession based game with technical players, put Chair and Dembele in a midfield 3 with one holding player and then Saito and one other supporting the striker lol. Although far too light weight I think that is the sort of player portfolio needed in midfield to make the style work. We might have to change system. I think we were playing a diamond midfield at the end which I quite like and gets both strikers on the pitch. I don't think Celar can play as a 1 up front. Frey can but his form has dropped off. Drop Andersen and get Dembele closer to Frey if you're not going to play 2 upfront.

We knew when we had the disaster of the Dickie and Dunne centre back partnership that Dunne cannot play in that position at this level. He’s poor on the ball and not strong enough. We have now moved him there and we can’t keep a clean sheet for toffee. We have so many powder puff player with so many of them midgets…Chair, Smyth, Dembele, Saito etc. We are not physically strong in many areas of the pitch. Field is very one dimensional. Madsen and Andersen have been so poor. There’s no balance to the side at the moment. JCS and Colback have vanished from the side. We know what is needed at this level of football. We had the chance in the summer to recruit well and we have blown it on a host of players with none of them playing one minute of Championship football. Many of them have come from much weaker leagues like Belgium and Switzerland. This team is 100% going down and this is on Nourry and Marti.

For once maybe the break will give Cifuentes and Nourry time to reflect on what isn't working in the plan and think of how to put it right. One thing would be to abandon the buy them young sell them high thing for a few minutes and see if there is a deal to be done to bring Hayden in. Hayden would make a world of difference right now.

We'd all love to think they'll have a reset and a thorough sit down and try to plan out a different strategy for the rest of the season over the next 2 weeks. But sadly we all know the players will come out the blocks early next game then immediately get bullied off the park and essentially fart the ball into the net for the opposition. Nothing's going to change in this two weeks, nothing

What else could he have done today ( selection wise ) with what he had available?
I wouldn't have started Anderson but bar that can't think of too many options

Pack the midfield, play Fox. Away from home I'd have played Celar and just knock it behind to turn them. Not pretty, but having sat through the Hull game it was clear we were weak.

CM options today
EDB , Madsen , Anderson and Field . All of them are weak as piss and none want to make a tackle bar Field

I have to say I thought Marti looked very worried during his Post Match interview.
Good. He needs to smell the coffee and sort this shit out as we are in a perilous position and tanking fast. We’re back to the lads v dads scenario we had last season.

Bosh,
The break Is handy but we shouldn't be needing a break to do any reflecting on what Isn't working, what Isn't working Is laid bare In front of our very eyes. Lose a game or two Okay, deal with It and move on but we're going backwards and fast too.
Results and performances are poor and having two Danish pastries In QPR shirts poncing about................
I dunno anyway whatever.

Last week we poured out our comments and every single one is magnified in this game. No one outside of Cook deserves their pay today. Anderson should be released aka Cannon. We could have been 2 up inside the first half if Anderson could use the ball. Great positions, poor decisions. Dembele was great at running through middle. Dunne was absolutely awful. Again.. rather have field there. EDB would be better than Madsen. Saito was bossed. I would also prefer to see Walsh get a look in as #1. I can see why Hayden was valued so highly. I do think Varane, Colback Fox, JCS , Walsh and Chair . But some of this team today looked like they do not belong.. period!

He should be. Him and Nourry have assembled a team that would struggle in L1. For once I'm not going to blame the new players...they are being asked to do something they aren't capable of.You can add Field, Paal, Smyth and even Frey to that list as well. Nardi is the notable exception, as he has the hardest job at the club and is doing OK.

Moving Field out of midfield would be a catastrophe. Nothing wrong with Nardi: that’s just replacing for the sake of it. Varane was the catalyst for our three defeats in a row with his ridiculous sending off.
