Southampton Already Have Their Target To Replace Russell Martin 21st Sep 2024 08:23
Today sees Russell Martin facing the biggest test of his managerial career, if he loses to Ipswich Town his position at St Mary's will be very much on the line, few managers lose the first five games of a season and survive. 13

“Eustace might not be a big name, but the Southampton hierarchy are said to be impressed with his credentials.”

What like they were impressed with Nathan Jones, Ruben Seles,Mara’s, Onuachu’s, Orsic’s, Caleta-Carr’s, Sulemana and Holgate’s credentials.

After 5 games let’s sack a manager who got us promoted and replace him with a manager who narrowly avoided relegation with Birmingham City and then got sacked and is totally unproven. Forgive me if I don’t get too excited

Eustace is a much more pragmatic manager.

Wants to be solid at the back and build from there.

Has done very well at Birmingham and Blackburn despite spending next to nothing.

Interesting.

"they say that the Saints board are also concerned about the tactics employed"

How can they not have known what his tactics were? The tactics are why they fvcking employed him in the first place.

Then, after a season in charge, they gave him a new 3 year contract in the summer. Did these morons still not know what his tactics were? Did it not cross their tiny minds that these tactics might not work so well in the PL and it might be both rash and totally unnecessary to give him a new contract?

If this is true it is the final proof that our board are fvcking morons and don't have a clue what they are doing.

Another manager without any premier league experience. Throw in an inexperienced rookie into a PL relegation battle and they would be wasting time and money.

There are also rumours that Eddie Howe might be sacked, but think again if you think our board and owners would appoint someone like him, on probably hundreds of thousands a week. The up and coming inexperienced Blackburn manager with potential would be exactly the type of manager we would go for. Inexperienced, uninspiring, and cheap. So be careful what you wish for.

Whenever there's talk of us getting a new manager, it's largely restricted to British ones. Our best managers in recent years were Pochettino and Koeman. We shouldn't restrict ourselves to the UK, but do what the top clubs do and look farther afield.

I think it's fair comment to say that if he hadn't had to change tactics last season due to Bazunu getting injured, they would still be a Championship side this season.
But now he again flies in the face of reality and opinion and goes back to the same old bullshit backwards possession style which doesn't work, but his massive ego won't allow him to change it,
so fu ck what everybody else thinks.
