Vital game this one as it hopefully sets us off on a cup run with the chance of earning some much needed funds for the coffers.
Cant see a big turnout but a win would be very welcome.

Looking at the M62 Gateshead won’t have the easiest of journeys.
Absolute nightmare from Huddersfield to Saddleworth.

I think if we win we pocket £2450 which should pay the electricity bill.....if we loose we get the princely sum of £625. Simon will not be happy.

Nice touch from Richard O’Donnell who’s sent a good luck message to Brad Kelly via X.

Lots of calls, last season in particular for max taylor to play more - no, seems every good attack by gateshead involved him, nevitt looked the senior player by miles. I go back to watching in the eighties i am convinced the old fashioned full backs we had then crossed more balls than jez

At least we can concentrate on the league now!

4-1 flatters us. Gateshead much more organised, professional and clinical. We look so easy to play against and are toothless up front.

The young substitutes especially Afuye have done quite well.

Well that's how you play 'fast attacking possession based football' not ponderous backwards sideways scared to take a shot dross we get served up with. Jim take note.

And that isn't going to happen. He'd be better off not doing a post match interview. Anyway, we didn't need the money .........

But Jim thinks it is good watch! Same attitude BBM and Stockdale did and looked what happened there, no doubt will give the same old post match comments, but ignoring the fact that is preferred style of football is total rubbish and is costing us wins.

It isn’t the same though and we’ve covered this. We have achieved half decent results playing a brand of football that mixes up the play effectively. When we play without tempo and players who look to carry the ball forward (Hayes) we then look ponderous and very, very average. At best.

This isn’t about the tactics, it’s about personnel and how we utilise what we have during a game.

Gateshead are the best possession team in the league and certainly not ponderous with it.

We look ponderous against better sides who can defend.

Our players look absolutely knackered.

Gateshead's quality with good loanees from clubs up the hierarchy blended with younger local players looks like a winning formula.

We have made some good signings but not good enough to push into play off contention.

Unfortunately Hendo also looks a shadow of his former self.

I can only hope they had decided not to bother with this competition, but getting drubbed at home after 2 decent wins is poor. . Felt sorry for Kelly but there was nothing he could do given the levels of ineptitude in front of him.. even Nevett caught the careless bug by the end of the game. Still, no doubt Jim will be proud. Where was Rodney?

McNulty is telling Gregg and anyone else who might listen that we are incapable of playing in 2(two) competitions at once with our squad. Seems exit was the plan tonight after giving a few kids a lick about.

He should have told us this earlier so we could stay at home and watch TV.
