Red and white is Saints tradition, not necessarily in deckchair stripes though.
We seem to fallen into the routine of doing red and white one season and deckchairs the next which I think keeps everyone happy/unhappy. |  |

You are right with the white sleeves, mind you I dont think they actually standardised the kit until the late 60's before that they used to wear different colour collars and even some different designs for the collar in the same match | |

I remember playing in teams with various strip designs back in the 60s. The colours and styles were often close to being the same but not always.
My first Saints game was '63 but can't remember anything other than everyone in the team turning out in the same strip for a game but that's a long time ago when I was a teenager so the memory might be playing tricks. | | | |

I believe this was the 1984 kit
which I don't think looked like the Danish one. Later we had a Draper Tools version.
I think the kit you're referring to was the 87-89 one
