Stockport attendance 16:30 - Apr 23 with 4001 views | judd | I was amazed at how many home fans Stockport had, City playing away notwithstanding. Then I came across this Facebook post: I’m a Stockport County fan and although there has been a bit of needle between our clubs, especially since the playoff in 2008, I am genuinely sorry to see Dale lose your football league place. We know from bitter experience how difficult the National League is, it’s a case of staying in the league and making sure you don’t end up in regional football for years like County. A bit of advice I will pass on. It’s critical that you build your fan base, rather than lament the fact the town would rather go to City or United. County were in the same boat with crowds of 2,000 to 2,500, but we now have 10,000+ sell outs every week. It didn’t happen by magic. The club targeted the schools with free tickets for the kids and critically the parents (Dale cannot give free tickets to kids and expect parents to pay £24. They won’t). The Supporters Co-operative targeted junior football clubs and community groups and invited them to bring the whole club for free. We were giving away up to 1,000 tickets a game, when we had turned the corner and we’re playing well. County broke the National League North attendance record vs Spennymore. It’s a lot of work, but it needs to done. The town of Rochdale will support your club, but you need to put in the hard graft and it will pay off! âš½ï¸ Best of luck to the Dale!

Stockport attendance on 16:41 - Apr 23 with 3929 views | kel | I was speaking to my boys this morning and asked if they’ve ever been offered free tickets to games or even had any interaction from the club at their school. The best they could come up with was a leaflet for the summer football camps. They’ve never once had a visit from the club as far as I’m aware and it’s getting harder by the day to keep them interested in Dale. My youngest also plays for an u7’s team and, again, nothing. In fact I’d be pretty confident in saying the whole club has never heard anything from RAFC. It has to change otherwise the only youngsters we’ll attract are the feral halfwits who congregate in the Sandy.
Stockport attendance on 16:44 - Apr 23 with 3906 views | 49thseason | More or less the conclusion we reached on Thursday night at the first Trust meeting. We cant keep fishing in the same pond. We need a bigger pond and better bait! There is the football in the community crowd going into schools every week that might be " encouraged " to do more match promotion. 7000 empty seats more or less for every game that need to be filled with FREE tickets for kids and parents, pub outings, works outings, cubs, brownies, junior football teams, you name it there 150,000+ empty seats that need bums on them. Making videos that 200 or 300 of us bother with doesn't sell a single extra ticket... If it doesnt sell anything why are they bothering? Why are they being paid wages to sell nowt to a few hundred die- hard fans, most of whom grew up with the Observer as the font of information....
Stockport attendance on 17:09 - Apr 23 with 3825 views | Yorkshire_Dale | Good find Judd and sounds good advise from Stockie lot.....one quote catches the eye "........we had turned the corner and were playing well".......that to me is the crux. Serve up decent fare and a bit of excitement and folk might just come. Sorry, not this shite that the last 3 managers have given us and we have tolerated. Perhaps Staff should get out and about a lot more rather than sit on hands at San Spotty and rejoice how diverse and inclusive we are ......get targeting the kids, it's been mentioned on here hundreds of times but never seems to materialise according to our fans comments. What do the Marketing shower do to justify their positions? Get pro active.
Stockport attendance on 12:04 - Apr 24 with 3257 views | Olddale | Great find Judd. As we have been made aware that not all directors read the forum, could you, or ask the Trust to, see that every individual director receives an email with the contents of your post. Also can the Trust continually pester the board at every opportunity to ask when such initiatives will be adopted.

Thanks Judd. Sorry but now live 3 hours drive away, and based on three score years and ten for expected full time, I'm well into extra time. Hope we get back into EFL before penalties come around. . First match was Dale v Bury with over 18,000 there. (Oh come on, you remember a team called Bury.). Armchair follower now..

I noticed "applications are open until midday today" for a freebie junior ticket on the tweet. I don't think I'm being too cynical by speculating that even if they left the gates open for the full 90', the stadium would be less than half full.

Sums them up that they put out that tweet just a few hours before the deadline. Only followers will have seen it and most will be going anyway. Preaching to the converted and all that. Where’s the effort to engage with people who don’t normally follow Dale media channels? They need to get off their arses and into the community instead of expecting everyone to come to them. When this idea was originally proposed I sent it around the WhatsApp group of parents of my lads football team and I got one reply. The club can’t be arsed so why should they be?
