Let this be the end 16:27 - Aug 27 with 7542 views | Dr_Parnassus | No more excuses. No more Martin is wonderful. No more blaming others. No more process. No more transition. No more “but we dominated”. No more pretending this is a good style of play. No more being close to becoming a good side. No more stupid goal kick routines. No more possession at all costs. No more walking football. No more 800 passes going nowhere every game. No more “Guess what? They will eventually stop running” idiocy. This utterly bizarre experiment on a football team has to stop now. No more. This is a proud football club and not some play thing for an ego maniac to have his way with and massage his possession and pass stats in a cheap bid to get noticed. If we leave it any longer the new manager will have one hell of a job on his hands to correct this mess. Martin OUT, sell Piroe do whatever it takes. He has got to go.

And I get the feeling he's changed and adapted through gritted teeth.

I love nobody other than you. As for Russell I’ve never been involved in any love in, just reality regards the question being asked and of course my opinion 😉

It depends on if he sticks with the Dr P ball or reverts to Martinball he was inflicting on us when this thread was posted. If he sticks with playing the way many of us have been demanding for the last 14 months then there is no reason to sack him, if he has any intentions of going back to that silly possession football then yes sack him on the spot.

I’d certainly like to hear some comments on the new style from him. 75%+ to 51% possession in the blink of an eye and people are pretending it’s a subtle tweak, that’s Steve Cooper possession numbers (whisper it quietly) I’d like to know the catalyst for this change, we heard plenty about the old way of playing from him, but zero on the new way. That’s what is making some of us a little nervous. If he came out and said the old way was flawed, we have a new way which we are totally committed to - I would be right behind him immediately. As it stands though there is a lack of trust there and I am just taking each game as it comes and crossing fingers and toes they are set up to play correctly.

Yes I saw that. My toes curled a little. That moment was absolute vindication for anyone who raised the concerns they did, proven correct beyond any question. That was the white flag moment that many were probably expecting in one form or another. Prior to that “some” were denying anything had changed and pretending it was Martinball that finally came good. Now they are recognising it but stating it was all part of the plan, while others not quite so brazen or shameless seem to be playing down the change as a subtle tweak and the players getting better at it… It’s chalk and cheese and he is playing exactly how many of us said he should, down to the finest detail. I will go back and dig out the comments from 12 months back stating we need a massive decrease in possession, massive decrease in pass count, increase in direct and long balls and the utilisation of pace without the suicide passes at the back. Also stating Benda needs to be the base of the defence. Actually scary how spot on it was.

To not understand how a person develops and learns and can display that practically is a concern.

I have some DMS waiting answers I do understand all of that Keith....experienced it and applied it throughout my career.... BUT Martin has displayed little of it....the time he spent persisting with a "process" which was clearly not working ....changing it for a few games then reverting back to type and then only only changing again when things were dire are not signs of that development. His post match interviews where he has thrown players under the bus to blame for losses these are not signs of a good manager. You defend your "team" in public and criticise behind closed doors where only you and yours are. How would you have felt back in the day "in the job" had your superior officer bad mouthed you in public using you to deflect from their failures ? Look I get all this we should be behind the manager stuff but there is a massive "love in" which has got to many in here its like he is a guru head of a cult If you really understood experiential learning which Martin professes to advocate you would see how far away from it he actually is. Its all about opinions ....the best learn and develop quickly....its taken Martin 3 seasons to learn his "system" doesnt work.....at least not with the resources he has always had available

The thing about "processes" is that they result in improved performances over the period of the process. It is rare for the process period itself to be super successful. The process designed to change mentality focus of on possession and change of playing staff has resulted in improved performances and results. Some posters criticise the process. The process was never the finished model. Martin is a proven "mid table manger" like a young Tony Mowbray. He has good runs mixed with bad runs. He has to date not demonstrated an ability to have 15-20 game good runs needed for promotion.

Let this be the end on 14:27 - Oct 14 with 487 views | jack247 | We’re playing our best football aesthetically for a long time and we’re winning. Just enjoy it while it lasts. There was quite evidently not an 18 month plan to get to this stage by playing higher risk, higher possession football and then teaching defenders to lump it long when under pressure and to vary it between intricate and direct when constructing attacks. But does it really matter what people on a website are calling it?
