Bees joins Blackpool on 14:20 - Jan 10 by D_Alien | Or... stalling Beesley's ambitions leads to a loss of form and/or he gets injured and it never happens Things move on quickly; there are no gaurantees If you've been such an avid follower of Dale, why wait till now to start posting? Unless you've been banned under another name... |
Completely agree. Always remember that with Scott Hogan. We took £750k from Brentford (and everyone said we were "cashing in") and then poor Scott Hogan did his knee ligaments and was out a long time. He came back from that first injury and promptly did his other knee before being sold to Villa for £9m? And I think we got a sell on! Great move for all concerned - Championship club believes it has signed the next big thing and we have got a good deal. Good look Bees - hopefully you'll follow others from here that have made it big having honed their craft at little old Rochdale and thanks for the contribution.

Bees joins Blackpool on 14:41 - Jan 10 by Brierls | Sign. Develop. Sell. Repeat. That is Dale's business model. It's very well known. That is how we compete despite revenue streams being lower than the majority of clubs at this level. It's worked pretty well in the last 10/15 years, with an extended stay in League One, so well that SCUM want to jump on the band waggon and personally profit from it. You're sure to hook a few disgruntled fans who don't understand the above, but the majority can see right through your bullshit. |
What will probably upset the WUM is the realisation that Beesley was sold to a Championship club where he signed a 3 and 1/2 year deal and all of that money flows into Rochdale AFC. I don't recall reading that sale of Beesley to a Championship club in the Manchester Evening News in July https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/businessman Responding, Mr Curran's statement said the MP had either been 'misinformed' or 'not made aware' of the current financial position of Rochdale AFC. He went on: "The club is certainly not a 'cash cow, far from it. It's got no money and without significant investment, the club will run out of money before the end of the year. Looks like we navigated the end of 2021 alright. I wonder how "significant" the investment is from Blackpool FC into Jake Beesley? Negotiation to sign him and offering him a good deal can't be cheap.... Good luck to him and Blackpool FC. Good move for all parties.

Only the club will know if it right. The clear thing we know from many, many years of deals is the word "undisclosed" is a banker in statements. Which usually means a large up front fee, add-ons and a sell on. From memory when we sold Rickie Lambert the sell on was that good when he moved to Liverpool from Southammpton for £4m we still got cash from Bristol Rovers!

Good old Mr Garlick could always broker a good deal for us.

Bees joins Blackpool on 17:34 - Jan 10 with 4927 views | davidab2202 | A great move for the lad and hope he goes from strength to strength at Blackpool. Probably pinching himself after a season or two looking like his career was going to be an unfulfilled one that was going nowhere ,he finds himself with a pretty long contract on money he has only been able to dream of. Also much as I was no fan of the previous management team , a small word of praise for whoever spotted that he had the promise to make his way as a half decent footballer and brought him to "The Dale"

Bees joins Blackpool on 19:10 - Jan 10 with 4590 views | oddjob007 | Anyone thinking that because we have £300k in our back pocket that we can go and sign a “proven” goal scorer is deluded. Yep, we could probably afford a transfer fee, but proven goal scorers want proven goal scorer salaries, which we can’t afford. We will either recruit from Non League or a take a youngster from the leagues above us. We’re Rochdale, it’s what we do, and it works for a club our size. In 2/3/4 years or whatever, I’m sure similar messages will appear when Bees replacement is hopefully sold for a profit. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bees joins Blackpool on 13:12 - Jan 10 by huchen_karma | Real ambition..... 17th in League 2, Lets sell off our best players and replace them with unproven non league players. Has relegation written all over that plan! I want to see all 300k of that fee being spent on some decent PROVEN players on long term contracts. |
Who was an unproven non league player... He'll have a fit if the lad from Darlo comes in. [Post edited 10 Jan 2022 19:48]

Bees joins Blackpool on 14:28 - Jan 10 by TomRAFC | Will people change the bloody record? There's more repeats than a Sweetmore playlist. The club commited to only accepting good fees and investing 100% of them into the transfer budget. Fees which are undisclosed for obvious reasons and have people guessing with about a 200k difference eitherside for each of them. Why let opportunity get in the way of the priority, a damn good moan. Is this the same fanbase that fought as one to save the club? Could have fooled me. |
I think 'people' have changed the record, Tom. The reaction and comments on here are very measured and appreciative of our situation. The one trying to stir it up is clearly a WUM.

I believe he (along with Newby) was brought in using Dan Altman’s ‘moneyball’ type scouting system.

Every team seems to be doing that now off the back of mainly Brentford's success. It's spawned the return to the "old" model of teams going into the pyramid to build players - Beesley being a good example. Solihull - Rochdale - Blackpool - ???? He will be hoping the next one is a Premier League team (unless he gets there with Blackpool) and no reason why not. The develop players well model is one that has stood this club in good stead since the late David Kilpatrick was Chairman all those years ago.

Bees joins Blackpool on 09:53 - Jan 11 by BucketBstard | Hopefully , this gives Stockdale the money he needs to bring in an older head or two and another Beesley. Good luck to Beesley I hope it works out for him, and Morley too. We all know we need a decent older experienced midfielder and a goal scorer , RS will know that as well , he's not stupid . Lets hope we have the right ones lined up . |
“The praise for Beesley is also a bit over the top . Sometimes he runs around a lot but doesnt create”

Indeed. Unfortunately that doesn’t suit the narrative of the permanently negative and hypocritical element of the fanbase.

Obviously you have a lot to learn about football in general and Rochdale in particular. Also, try using a thesaurus perhaps, to understand what a "fire sale" is. Selling two players for huge profit is hardly a fire sale. With Covid19 wiping out any possibility of turning a profit for the foreseeable future, that income couldn't have come at a better time. Thankfully you aren't in charge of our finances, otherwise we'd be looking down both barrels of a gun and heading out of business.
