Pawing the ground at the thought of getting away to somewhere new. Who better to turn to than the Frank and Nesta Boughs of LFW? Can I go first? Has anyone been to Chania in Crete and is it a good idea?

I think I’d want to wait until it’s certain to go ahead first.I’m getting p@ssed off with booking stuff and then seeing it cancelled, with the hassle then of trying to rebook or get the money back.

Never been to Chania, but I have been to Agios Nikolaos more times than I can remember - lovely place without any of the "here we go" brigade.
Best place I have ever, ever been to in Greece is Kalami, on the NE coast of Corfu. Stunning, laid back and you may be able to do a bit of famous people spotting. Water taxis to tavernas, fantastic scenery and the most "easy" place I've ever visited. Trip advisor will let you know all you need to know. Don't tell anybody.
PM me if you want to know anything else mate.

My favourite Greek island is Thassos. Went in the early 90’s as it just opened up again after the Balkan wars meant you struggled to get there by land. They built a new airport on the mainland and you get a ferry across. Obviously don’t know what it’s like now as that was nearly 30 years ago!

Beautiful place - I went there around the same time as well. 9/10, but for the feckin' wasps. We hilariously called it Waspos.
If it hasn't changed too much - highly recommended. Golden Beach is the business.

Thanks for the suggestions, Gents. Mrs Sheen and I would like nothing better than to veg out in the middle of nowhere with drinks in our hands with the occasional trip to an old ruin, but unfortunately we will have three student yobs with us demanding nightlife, preferably three or for different places each night. They also start playing up if they aren't there within six hours.

We’ve been to Elounda which is the opposite side of the island. Lovely place, great hotels and plenty to do and places to chill. We booked Crete last year to ensure we’d get flights and hotel Mid October in the event of quarantine rules re kids schooling. It’s looking good regardless. We are near Elounda this year - highly recommend it. Greece is great especially for families.
We also went to Corfu last summer. It was fine even with Covid. Quiet due to reduced capacity. I’ve a stressful job so needed it. Felt safe and it was lovely.
Book it. You won’t regret it.

Have you considered Purley, near Croydon. A potential win-win.
