Where was the attacking joy?! We scored from two set pieces.
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:40 - Sep 18 with 1934 views | Toast_R | Well that was f*cking awful. All the problems brought to the surface under bright Neon lighting. Defending as a team we just cant do it. No one organising, no one taking charge, a keeper who looks non league and lathargic when the going gets tough.

**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:40 - Sep 18 with 1906 views | QPRSteve | I'm heartily sick of watching us defend. Get rid of whoever is coaching the defence and get someone in who knows how to organise one. Having said that the midfield was also dreadful today and poor Dykes up front was given no service.
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:41 - Sep 18 with 1892 views | aston_hoop | Trying to be Barcelona on Bolton's budget can be entertaining but is often infuriating. I never wanted to be that person, but we need a horrible bastard in this team to grab everyone by the throat and drag us through halves like that. Attrocious stuff.

**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:41 - Sep 18 with 1884 views | ted_hendrix | Useless tossers from the Management right through to the players, unless he sorts that defense out expect to concede another 70 odd goals this season. It's still the same old story. No bloody excuses

Dont want to scapegoat the guy but k make it 8 shots on target we've conceded this season and 6 goals. Not good stats.
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:42 - Sep 18 with 1854 views | Hoopsarrr | Lumley not good enough at this level, a strong commanding keeper to sort the back four out. Too many backwards passes in their third. MW needs to consider hiring a defensive coach for the training ground or we'll concede another 70+ again this season.

**Coventry Match Thread** on 18:44 - Sep 18 by Nov77 | Yup, I think a lot of older fans will see this as one of those ‘seen it all before’ games, win a game we expected to lose then immediately follow it up by losing a game you hope to get something out of. Had a feeling we might get something off forest as I thought they’d still have a hangover from their appalling end to last season. We played them at the perfect time. Let’s see how we get on tonight when presumably we will face our first shots on target of the new season. |
Might as well bump my pre match thoughts, if I had any sense I’d put money on it happening, been watching it long enough.

**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:43 - Sep 18 with 1811 views | BostonR | It’s Warburton’s arrogance that will undo us. Not recognising you have a serious problem with the back five is just feckless. And don’t start me on Tom Caroll!
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:43 - Sep 18 with 1800 views | jtuck | Lumley was very poor for first goal. Totally exposed for the other two which cannot be reasonably be seen as his fault. Worst defending from corners I have seen in a long while.

We desperately need a new coach in to be tasked with sorting out the defence. Clearly none of the current group can do it. It’ll be worth more points than any signing will. Dickie can defend corners. He’s defender a lot in his career. As has Barbet and Wallace. And Cameron. There is experience there. It must be how we’re set up at corners and an attitude issue.

I didn't look happy either but if I was manager I would finally admit that I can't coach defences and get someone in ..... instead of spending money on a player spend on a coach that can train how to park the bus and grind out a few clean sheets to build on.... doing this is building on nothing. It is soul destroying for a team that can't defend
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:45 - Sep 18 with 1703 views | ted_hendrix | Warburton is fast losing his credit in the bank as far as I'm concerned, he's been here long enough he's had the gig long enough.

**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:46 - Sep 18 with 1666 views | johnhoop | Pity we haven't got a big fecking German at the back who can win headers all day long. Oh yeah, we had one but we gave him away because apparently his passing wasn't up to scratch.

I only watched the second half but it was apparent we lack creativity Chair is trying to be top boy but not sure he’s ready for it (as much as I love him) Dykes.... works hard but link up skills have not been on display Bright... ok, he is Being double teamed.... but has the guy had a goal or an assist since before the lockdown? Not good enough Amos went back to the invisible routine Qpr gave the ball away way too much.... perhaps don’t have the players to play this expansive style Defense bad in all phases

We had one. We paid him to leave. He’s even just grabbed a fan by the neck. Yes he’s slow, but we’d concede fewer goals from corners. Watching that again, Barbet was soft as sh*t. Tiny shove moves him and he gives up on the ball, and appeals for a free kick. DEFEND THE CORNER, YOU SOFT TART.
**Coventry Match Thread** on 21:47 - Sep 18 with 1620 views | QPRSteve | Warburton reckons we need one of two more. More like five or six. At least one striker, a left back if Manning departs and at least one player in the middle of the park capable of playing a defence splitting pass.
