It's a clever move as well. Let's say he cannot save them. Chances are he will be allowed to manage them in League One. Good chance of promo from there even with a heavily slashed budget.

Most teams in L1 will be lucky to even have an 11 to play with or even a club come next season. Let alone even a slashed budget for new players.
