If Blackburn come in for Rathbone as has been rumoured, perhaps we can get Magloire in "part-exchange" with a lump of cash going our way too.??
Contract Extension - McShane on 21:29 - Jan 16 with 2623 views | dingdangblue | Shame he missed out on the 2 Newcastle games? Seems strange timing to announce it after the event. I'm sure he would have loved to have played in them - did Bruce sign him at Hull?

Could be? Its defo too late for him to be subbed after 45 seconds in 40 games now

Also is there a restriction on what position a loanee can play? Perhaps with all these CBs Magliore could be played in midfield, unless Blackburn have forbidden that.

McShane was reported as saying the Board were worried about offering him a contract immediately because they had doubts about his fitness. The delay could have been the result of them getting a medical report before offering him this deal.

I'm guessing there'll be a restriction on him sitting on his arse

Or perhaps he had other options to weigh up and we worked hard to offer him the right deal for him and us, while still bettering his other offers?

He's been completely missing from 3 squads since the Accrington win - just seems strange to not even be considered a squad place. If he has had other offers then maybe Dale told him to go away and sort himself out and come back after the Newcastle game - if the other offers haven't come through then we would offer him a deal. It's all sorted now anyway. If he can stay fit then I have no worries about going down - hopefully we can continue to push up the league towards a safe mid table.

He had offers for more money but not necessarily at the level he wants to play at. He had things to weigh up, we had things to weigh up and now we are where we are.

Quality operator but just hope the wages aren't to excessive for a 34yo with a patchy fitness record lately.

He’s probably on a ‘pay as you play’ kind of deal, if there is such a thing. He’ll be on a decent whack, but only when he is actually fit and plays. I’d be disappointed if this wasn’t the deal.

He’s been given an 18 month contract how can he be on pay as you play? I’d imagine he has a set wage and then there will be a bonus structure built into the contract as with most other pro’s.
Contract Extension - McShane on 08:09 - Jan 17 with 1989 views | TalkingSutty | Really pleased with this signing and I’m hoping it’s a notice of intention going forward into next season. The squad is still hampered from Hills last season at the Club and we are stuck with senior players on big wages who are contributing very little. Hopefully plans are in place to utilise these wages elsewhere during the Summer Transfer Window and BBM is already looking that far ahead. A centre half pairing of McShane and O’Connell is very impressive, at this level there won’t be many better partnerships than that , we witnessed it at Accrington on New Years Day. Obviously it’s a gamble on the fitness issue but one worth taking I think. Well done to the Boardroom for making it happen, we can’t keep signing young kids.

He isn't on a pay-as-you-play deal.

The contract is between him and RAFC and we can all simply guess as to the details therein. My guess is that some element of the contract will be related to availability to play - possibly a portion of weekly wage. Anything we can do to stop shipping goals the better, 87 last season, 41 already this season.

Contract Extension - McShane on 10:30 - Jan 17 with 1740 views | SuddenLad | Let's just be glad we have a significant addition to the squad, who will make us stronger as a team. The terms of his deal are largely irrelevant. He decided we were the club he wanted to play for. Amen to that.

I think DL was pondering if his contract includes an appearance bonus element. From your response it would appear that is not the case.

I don't know the finer details of the contract, so DL is right that that is between McShane and the club. All I do know for a fact, I have posted. He is being paid a salary regardless of whether he plays or not, and we had to work hard to get him due to interest elsewhere. [Post edited 17 Jan 2020 11:05]

I think it was Michael Owen at Man Utd a few years ago that was supposedly on a 'pay-as-you-play' deal as it was reported by a few media outlets. What this actually meant he was paid a relatively low wage regardless of his involvement, then big bonuses per-appearance and per-goal that took the wage to one that befitted a first-team player. I suspect this is what most people mean now when they say 'pay-as-you-play' rather than the literal, semi-pro definition where players literally don't get paid unless they play.

McNulty remains valuable in the short term due to the likelihood that McShane won't be playing every game

Yes, but I genuinely don't think that is the type of deal he has agreed.
