Playing out from the back 11:59 - Jul 24 with 3883 views | todmordendale | I thought we may have learned our lesson from last season. Watching the game at Oldham there seemed to be an obsession to play it across the back waiting for something to happen, ending up in disarray or hoof ball. McNumpty and Delany are worryingly short of being Laporte and Stone. Opposition teams seem to have this sussed and simply close up down.
Playing out from the back on 12:07 - Jul 24 with 3850 views | electricblue | You can only use the tools at your disposal.. Many of the current squad as been in two close relegation battles this should have been a red light for BBM for this season and changes are needed more so in defence... BBM as to bring in another CH to freshen up the current defence as players like McNulty cannot be trusted week in week out not to make basic mistakes... Delaney may just improve enough with a better player along the side of him.. BBM i hope is looking into bringing a much needed CH.....

Playing out from the back on 12:27 - Jul 24 with 3784 views | D_Alien | We want defenders to be able to defend, nothing else The point tod..dale makes about LaPorte and Stone is pertinent; the latter especially has been caught out trying to play like a midfielder around the edge of the penalty box and is rapidly losing his status at both international and club level if all but the very top echelon of defenders can't manage it, why expect L1 journeymen to do so? It's utter madness, and if it continues i think we'll be making our views known, quite vocally on matchday tbf it's only the manager who can change that game plan

I actually disagree about McNulty. Always say he gets a hard time but generally he's a good defender and is quite good with his feet. I think at this level you aren't going to get anybody who doesn't make mistakes. The problem we have is we need someone mobile with him. A partnership of McNulty and Delaney would be a travesty so that can't be allowed to happen. We have O'Connell but I think we need to get rid of Delaney and bring in another competent back up. We'll get murdered with Delaney and McNulty, but McNulty and O'Connell will hopefully work, although we're yet to see it.

You can have any permutation you want but another CH is required. If BBM does manage to aquire another CH then perhaps its possible for Delaney to be loaned out to either a Lg2 or a conference team to build his experience....

I also worry about the change to Law which doesn't require the ball or players to leave the area at goal-kicks. We'll now be playing it around closer to our own goal, which is worse than doing it outside the penalty area.

Playing out from the back on 12:52 - Jul 24 with 3688 views | swiggy | Big Sam was on talksport this morning talking about the new rule regarding the ball not having to leave the penalty area, he said it’s the most stupid rule ever and any team using it would have a shed load of goals against them as it’s so easy to press against. Playing out from the back on 13:07 - Jul 24 with 3647 views | EllDale | It's funny how we never seem to produce home grown central defenders (Our Craig excluded and he didn't come through the Academy strictly speaking). Keepers, midfield players, strikers have all been blooded in the few years but not one centre half unless you count Scott Tanser as one.

We have had a few come through the youth ranks, Jason smart, Paul Butler, zac Hughes sort of, Dave Baylis, off the top of my head. Admittedly a few years back, before Jason smart discovered he enjoyed punching canines more than heading the ball.

Playing out from the back on 15:08 - Jul 24 with 3382 views | ChaffRAFC | A centre half is essential because even the thought of Delaney near the side is enough to give anyone nightmares. Don't have much more confidence in McNulty either, apart from when he was next to Ebanks-Landell, he was poor last season.

Playing out from the back on 16:44 - Jul 24 with 3210 views | YadHoDale | I thought Carl Parker was more of a defensive midfielder - think we got him from Rossendale or someone. Apart from Tanser, I think that makes Dave Bayliss the most recent to have played more than a few games for us. Unless Kevin Gibbins signs on as "player-sports-scientist"!

Well to go all 442Dale, in 91/92 he wore shirt numbers 4, 10, 11, 14 & 12. In 92/93, he wore 3, 11, 12 & 14. In 93/94, he never played!
