3rd July was day 3 of 3 of the Battle of Gettysburg
For those interested in military history the attached is a great lecture on the battle.
The battle culminated with Pickett’s charge.

There's a very good dramatised film version starring Martin Sheen as Robert E Lee.
It appears on one of the minor Sky channels now and again. Movies4Men. I think.
Good viewing if it interests you. A friend of mine has visited the battlefield. Something I'd love to do one day.

I was fortunate to be part of a group guided tour there 2006/2007(?) - my memory is fcked!
I was somewhat taken aback by the knowledge that for a few years the battlefield had beeen used as a tank training area!
It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. - Carl Sagan

Yes thanks for reminding me it was called Gods and Generals and was in 2 parts. The 2nd part was Gettysburg.
Here is Pickett's charge from the film also in 2 parts
