Another club going the youth route due to financial issues (in their case it's FFP sanctions more than actual lack of cash afaik).

"As part of an overall review of Club operations, we will also seek to enhance our recruitment and scouting strategy.

We have faced significant challenges in relation to Profitability and Sustainability regulations and whilst we will improve our squad and be competitive in the market — the Club’s owners are committed to continued investment - we will do so sensibly and effectively.

The Club has a pool of talented players and those emerging via the Academy and Under-23s will be embraced, even more so than before. We are certain these young players — as those in our first team already - will be hungry to succeed as we begin a new chapter."

"Pep Clotet has been appointed caretaker Head Coach and the remainder of the coaching and backroom staff — including Sean Rush, Darryl Flahavan, Ryan Needs and James Beattie - stay in place."

They've sacked Monk but kept Beattie?

Awesome.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Everywhere he's gone he's dragged these clods around with him. Now he's on the dole whilst they kept their jobs.

Must be feeling a bit betrayed.

Yep, I guess certain individuals/impostors will no longer be able to steal a living, courtesy of parasitically hitching a ride on the Monk gravy train and riding it from station to station.

How the f#ck Clotet has gotten away with it for so long is staggering, talk about a man of many travels. Once Clotet gets sacked at Birmingham I reckon 'enabler' and 'job-fixer' Monk will be of far less charitable/loyal nature.

It'll be hard to impress cos Clotet's growing list of past sackings are taking up Yellow Pages length space that should be filed under the letter 'F' for failure!

wasnt what actually happened though was it laudrup was sacked because since winning the league cup we had relegation form he wasnt sacked just to give monk a job. Monk then kept us up and took us to highest ever prem position

We were 12th when he was sacked.

Two whole points clear of relegation. Chasm.

Injuries, a small squad and an unforgiving Europa League campaign weren’t mitigating circumstances in your eyes then?
With fans as mince thick as you perhaps we deserve to be treading water in the Championship.

The last sentence was right.
The rest I disagree with. We were in Europe. Had a massive amount of fixtures. Unprecedented injures. Had warring factions in the club.
We had gone through a run of difficult games and were coming out of that. Had recently beaten Man Utd in the cup.
Jenkins was bordering on constructive dismissal by siding with the wrong warring faction, banished Tutumulu from the club and forced Monk on ML as his assistant.
ML stuck with the club despite this and was then sacked by email.
A disgraceful exposed in our history. The sacking of Frankie Guidolin came a close second.

Sacked Guidolin to appoint the clueless Bradley. Utterly shameful and beyond fûcking mental.

The recent history of our club in microcosm.

Guidolin was sacked on his birthday wasn't he, how ruthless and low down that was, cruel.

I’m not sure people Guidolins age are that concerned about their birthdays. Getting sacked so Bob Bradley could have a go was far worse than the timing of it.

Having recently listened to Jackie Rockeys interview it made me think had Laudrup targeted the Europa league for his second season over the PL it appears he target the league cup as the route to Europe and succeeded perhaps his goal in season two was to win the Europa.but we will never know.

Ouch.

Considering the problems Birmingham had because of their owners I'm surprised they didn't stick with him. What do their fans think?

They have breached FFP twice, selling Jota to Villa and being told no money for replacements, and concentrate on youth seems to be the final straw.

Financial reality is hitting a lot of teams in the Championship, we are not alone

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go
