Who from the U23's are likely to step up when Cooper takes charge? on 16:00 - Jun 13 with 1953 views | jasper_T | Jordon Garrick probably the most likely following DJ's move. Jack Evans if his recovery continues as it has (got a solid 45 and 60 minutes in Wales u21s friendlies this week). No one really staked a claim last season, not to the same extent McBurnie, Byers etc. did in previous. There's a few that could pop up in an emergency basis but we used 28 players in the league last season, not much room for new faces even if we were to lose a big handful more.
Who from the U23's are likely to step up when Cooper takes charge? on 16:00 - Jun 13 with 1953 views | Badlands | Cabango Cooper (?) Govea (injury prone) Paulet (possible) Otherwise none that really looked the part. (I would have said Tyler Reid as an outing out full back but he's beed released.) Asoro Dhanda Rodon Hang on to some of the other youngsters Need to keep Routs, MVDH & Naughton for experience.

Thought he was excellent in that Palace cup game for someone so young.

Was coming back from a serious injury as well, having only played a handful of times at u23s level. Struggled this season. A few more injury setbacks and playing out of position at left back (good experience for him but absolutely not cut out for it). He's not the biggest centre half and has filled out noticeably over the last 18 months which to be honest hasn't done his mobility any favours. But he's a talent, reads the game well, very aggressive, and in terms of technical defensive ability is probably the best young defender we have (I'm including Rodon here).

I know he has had injuries but there is a belief that he is going to be something special.

Rodon is far superior technically in fairness.

Rodon is the better ball-player. More composed on the ball, better range of passing etc. All three of the prospects coming up behind Cian in the u23s are lacking in those areas, which caused a lot of issues with the team trying to play out from the back last season. Rodon's also a far better athlete. He's taller and much quicker. But Cooper is a better natural defender imo. He's a better tackler and header of the ball, and uses his body well in challenges and blocking off opposition players. A lot of similarities with Ashley Williams in style, defends on the front foot and makes a lot of impressive recovery tackles.
