I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.
The Virtues on Channel 4 is good, directed by Shane Meadows.
Yeah, big fan of Shane Meadows, and this is very good. No one does realism quite like him. The 'lock-in in a ropey Sheffield boozer' scene in the first episode was absolutely spot on. Not exactly cheerful viewing mind you. Stephen Graham is having a good year, with this and his performance in Line of Duty.
Agree with this. I had never been aware of the heroism shown by those power plant workers who basically gave up their own lives by wading through radioactive water to turn off the pumps and save hundreds of thousands of lives. Or the miners who were asked to go in to put the layer of concrete underneath the core and again must have known it was virtually a death sentence. An incredible degree of self-sacrifice for the greater good.
If you missed the ITV series this week Hatton Garden I would recommend it on the ITV hub, Timothy Spall was particularly good.
I really enjoyed it apart from the bit when they left the proceeds of the robbery in the rubbish bins without even leaving a layer of rubbish on the top. Although a true story, some bits were added for dramatic effect. Surely they didn't really leave the stuff on such a fashion?
I’ve watched a couple of episodes of years and year and I like it. The daughter that wants to be trans human is excellent. It was funny when she turned to parents and in all seriousness says I’m going to be data.
I'm swimming against the tide on Chernobyl I think. I don't get the love. I find it a bit hit and miss. (spoilers perhaps?)
Bad: I kept expecting the first episode to break into Green Wing with the white gowns, fake moustaches, and silly voices. Some really clunky exposition forced into the mouths of characters. Gratuitous puppy scene. Repetitive - failing to get someone to do something with a threat, before succeeding by explaining and calling for heroes.
Good: costumes, interiors, radiation makeup, much photography (after first episode), atmosphere (after first episode).
Eight episodes though? Half that and they could spare us the boring coal and coach sub-plots. Also, I’m not sure why Gemma Whelan is being punished with such a dull character and being dressed in pub curtains.
+1 for Chernobyl - best thing I've watched for some time.
Absolute masterpiece ... some of the scenes are incredible with people volunteering to help out even though they knew it would mean a premature, painful death for themselves... very moving.
I’ve just completed two episodes of this. The second deals with the court case and it’s very good. A quick admission I’ve had subtitles on as I struggled with New York Harlem accent. I’m showing my ignorance here but I didn’t realise this took place and did Trump really take out a full page advert calling for the death penalty .

Finished Chernobyl last night and I have to agree I was completely blown away by it (pardon the pun). Fantastic from start to finish with some of the finest acting I've seen for quite some time. Really moving end to.

Me too and the last episode explained some very complicated things amazingly well. Harris Skarsguard Watson- all fantastic
Been watching 63 up this week, started watching it at 28 up and haven’t missed any of the catch ups since, Shame to see one has died and another close to death but I suppose on the theory of probability it was bound to happen.

Yep very good, the attention to detail is very good especially the whole USSR vibe of the 80s ie housing, clothes , the grey drabness etc On a side note is it me or are all sky Atlantic programmes recorded so you can’t hear anything, I have to turn the sound bar to 75 onnall their stuff , I don’t seem to have that issue with any other channel or Netflix
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
