Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) 12:54 - Dec 29 with 30126 views | Tonto | Quiet at work, so thought this might be fun and take our minds off the footy: To qualify as "known" you must have been on first name terms with the person (both ways!). You do not need to still be in contact with them (e.g. your baby sitter when you were a kid counts!) Mine is Louise Stewart - BBC South East Political editor, occasionally seen on the main news, but mostly in the local versions. Was at Uni with her, she was the flat mate of a girl I was keen on, but never got it on with for various reasons and ended up in the friend zone...

Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) on 13:06 - Dec 29 with 15006 views | baz_qpr | I used to work in a major London recording studio in the mid nineties after leaving uni first as runner then as an assistant engineer. So I've "known" within these rules many. Had Robbie Williams (Port Vale)for nigh on 6 months top guy used to play fifa and other games with him - Worked with the Stones, Oasis and many more. Used to have good football chats with Stephen Street (QPR) and Paul Heaton about Sheffield Utd
Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) on 13:19 - Dec 29 with 14964 views | R_from_afar | Good topic for a thread and a great idea to try and get us off the subject of QPR, Tonto! I was struggling to think of anyone initially but I can offer two contributions: - Jon Batty, the ex-Surrey cricketer. I used to play for the same club side. I'm glad he went on to have such a long and successful career (and marry one of the professional dancers from "Strictly...") because our team mates used to rip the p1ss out of him, perhaps out of jealousy. When I first joined that club, I didn't have a bat because I was mainly a bowler and my previous club had had a pool of club bats. In a game early on in my time there, there was a flurry of wickets and I had to go out to bat without much notice. I literally had no willow so I asked his dad, who also played for the club, if I could borrow a bat. It wasn't as if I was likely to damage it by smashing boundaries, I was too cr@p! He grudgingly lent me one of Jon's bats, a bat which I managed to scrape my metal studs down as I fell over trying to heave the ball to the boundary. Dad was not best pleased. Mind you, it was karma: The match was an away game miles from base and I had had to follow team mates' cars for miles, cross country. His dad was driving a two litre repmobile and drove like Nigel Mansell, resulting in the rather surprising sight of me tailgating an XR3i at 80mph as I tried to overtake and catch up my team mates. Not easy when you are in a 1 litre Metro! - Pete Trewavas, Marillion bassist. He married my next door neighbour. When the band started out, he had to choose between their first tour of the US and his job as a TV repairman. There was much tutting about him giving up "a proper job" but he chose rock and roll and the rest is history. I bet he doesn't regret giving up a life spent trying to coax a decent picture out of 20 year old Bairds. RFA

Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) on 14:53 - Dec 29 with 14831 views | Hunterhoop | Toby Roland Jones, Middx CC and England Lions cricketer. Played at the same club as colts together, coached by his dad and went to the same school. Bumped into him in the Pavillion at Lord's after a match and said hello and had a quick chat. Interesting thing with Toby was, as a Colt, he was an opening batsman who barely bowled. I good friend I play cricket with today, who captained Toby at school aged 17/18, only bowled him 14 overs all season! 5/6 years later he's opening the bowling for Middx. Not that famous but that's about it from me, I think!

Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) on 15:27 - Dec 29 with 14737 views | Jeff | Liz Hurley taught me at school when i was a nipper. Liz Hurley is from Basingstoke (as am I...) and her Mother is (probably was now...) a teacher at a junior school in the area. Liz Hurley used to help out as one of those classroom assistants when she was younger, so she taught me. It also means that i have a Kevin Bacon number of 3, as Liz Hurley has a Kevin Bacon Number of 2 (Liz Hurley & Brendan Fraser in 'Bedazzled', Brendan Fraser and Kevin Bacon in 'The Air that i Breathe')

We were technically therefore on first name terms when he called with problems! Very odd scouse accent. Does that count?

Who is the most famous person you have known? (non QPR) on 15:42 - Dec 29 with 14707 views | Hadders | An interesting one, as I grew up knowing a satirical comic called Peter Dirk Uys (most famous as a character in drag, a bit like Dame Edna) who was (and still is) very famous in his home country, South Africa, but not at all here. President Mandela even had a picture of him on his desk! How fame can be limited by national boundaries fascinates me. The mountaineer Chris Bonington is an old family friend; he was on TV a lot and very famous in the 70s and 80s - he is still alive, and still a very lovely, charismatic and inspiring chap.

Allegra Stratton from newsnight, now ITV prob most famous, albeit not very famous. She's mental. Recently played in the same football team as the guy who played King Arthur, Bradley, in merlin and also the ginger one from the ginger the Geordie and the geek sketch show on BBC. One of those ones that didn't really translate to the big screen.
