probably you are seeing only prices for the top category seats, thats all that is left at this late stage. If you had bought them when they first went on sale, about a year ago you would have been able to get the less expensive tickets. I got tickets for QF and Final then. Didnt manage to get semis which is just as well cos its same day as the ee by gum classico ...biffos at home.

Supply and demand. They'll charge what people are willing to pay. It's why it's a myth that Football teams who sell out their stadiums will reduce the prices.

I put my name on the official ticket request 18 months ago for England games. Cheapest ticket I was offered was 60 quid. Have decided not to bother. Am interested as to why I was not offered the cheaper options - How much were they going for?

I know costs may be higher than some other countries to watch major sports events but it is really starting to be a rip off. You can get tickets for the finals sessions of the world athletics championships next weekend in Beijing for a tenner on Saturday and 15 quid on the Sunday

A good example of this is test match cricket, over here its about £60 a day for a ticket I'm off to South Africa for the first two tests at Christmas and have tickets for both in very good seats for £70, that's 10 days worth of test match cricket.

You'll enjoy it. Food and drink is also very cheap especially with the rand so weak. I went to the Boxing day test last time England toured. Cost me 3 quid a day for reasonable seats Cape town will be even better as it is always a sell out and is a beautiful stadium. 2 years ago for SA v India you could get a 5 day pass for about 12 quid for sitting on the grassy bank.

As you imply the differences in prices are hard to justify. Market forces apply but on the other hand we are trying to get more people involved and pricing people/families out won't help

tickets for the games at elland road started at 20 quid...remind me how much it is for a seat at Spotland. Englands game at Etihad started at 50 quid . . similar price to top premiership teams. And all kids prices for the group games start at no higher than 15 quid and are 7 quid for some games

Yes its much cheaper to buy a ticket for games in Beijing or Cape Town...but so is buying a loaf of bread in those countries. And the airfare is cheaper to Manchester!

Its the world cup for gods sake....we are beginning to sound like Tazzy.

Agree with everything said about test matches at Cape Town..a bucket list item if ever there was one. Saw the aussies bowled over for 50 a few years ago...and a bottle of pinotage is less than a quid in Spar.

Talking of Athletics........seems to me that with all this dope saga it's dieing on it's drugged -fuelled feet?

I for one have no interest whatsoever right now and but for Superman Bolt and Yarkshire's finest Jess Ennis -Hill (and the other Jackson Thompsom lass) would n't give the sport a second look.

Before the general sale there was a window of a few weeks for RFU member clubs and their players to buy tickets. A lot of the lower price category tickets were being snaffled up before reaching the public.

So reular fans of rugby get priority"...isnt the same principle used in footy...season ticket holders get first dibs.

Maybe there are a hell of a lot of people who never go to rugby games suddenly expecting to be able to get cheap tickets for world cup games.

I applied for euro champ tickets in France in lowest two price categories and got none. Probably would have got them if I had been prepared to pay higher prices. As someone said its supply and demand.

I applied for tickets as a member of a rugby club last year during the priority period. It did help to get the cheaper tickets which were £50 adult and £15 junior which for a world cup isn't too bad, when compared to other big sporting events in England.

If you missed out via this route some of the prices are crazy for some of the games. I heard the other day on the radio though that 90% had already been sold so maybe the pricing is right after all?!

Tickets are priced high because in 2011 New Zealand made a big loss on the world cup and the IRB didn't want the same to happen again and so England promised to pay more and hence the tickets are highly priced.

It also doesn't help that the sport is priced from Twickenham, where people are willing to pay £80 to watch England v Italy for a 6 nations. At the end of the day the corporates will pay for these tickets, boxes etc and ensure a sell out.

In comparison, Rugby League - England v New Zealand 2nd test at the Olympic Stadium on 7 November is £22!

One quarter of the 2.3 million available were priced £50 or below. Some pool match tickets were priced from £15.

You're comparing apples and pears with the RL match. The Rugby League World Cup was watched live by 450,000 people, far less than RWC2015 will be. It's a sport with lower demand and there are always low priced tickets available for every major match as they're far from a sell-out.

So lets see how many empty seats there are on November 7th and compare that to how many empty seats at the same stadium for the RWC games, despite admission prices being much lower. You could give away the seats for Nov 7th and it still wouldn't be full (I expect many tickets will actually be given away to avoid an embarassingly low crowd)

No one cares about rugby league in the south....the famous London Broncos had 250 spectators at the weekend! Given the number of coaches, trainers, physios, water carriers and officials I expect there were more people on or around the pitch then there were watching.

The bottom line Watford Dale is for those who dont want to pay the price for RWC games, there will be plenty of tickets available for Eng v NZ.

International rugby league is nothing compared to its union cousin.
