You don't trust Russia, the country that defeated the NAZI and drove them out of Europe, but trust the country that has been at war for 92% of it's time in existence, has military bases in more than 150 countries, jails more of it's own people than any other country on earth and has the biggest surveillance program of not just it's own citizens but other as well.

For us to have found ourselves on the opposing side to Finland in the last war is something quite shameful, I think. It's hugely embarrassing,; I know that Churchill felt that keenly as did Hoare, Halifax and Eden as revealed in their published memoirs.
I've often thought what my personal stance would have been in the last war, Perch, had I been of that generation. It goes without saying that I would have fought to defend these islands from any adversary, whoever they were if we were attacked, but I'm not at all convinced that I could have stomached aiding the communists.
Stalin was the Devil. The equation is that simple. If you knowingly abet evil what does that make us? Blind acceptance that Britain's participation in the last European war was "Just" is somewhat fanciful. It seems to me that the accepted history of 1939-45, the officially authorised accepted line regurgitated and blindly acknowledged today is remarkably different from the reality of yesteryear. | |
