This is about poverty. The average white american is 80 times wealthier than the average black american. That is down to historical context and education/opportunities. That should help explain the sad prison stats. The way the american establishment has protected their own is a disgrace. That said i think that the american establishment would have protected a black officer just the same. Mass peaceful protests have delivered step change social changes in the usa and sadly it appears that more change is still needed. No winners in any of this. |  |

Spot on Darran, if he was an innocent and this happened then this would be tragic, regardless of race. The fact is though he was not, he was selling illegal cigarettes. If he was not then the police would not have had to intervened...no restraint then required..illegal or not. Copper should have been done though. |  |
