Nigel Adkins has already shown he is not afford to use the loan market not only to get players but to ship players out.
With the departure of Paul Wotton to Oxford United on loan this week Nigel Adkins is has shown that he is well aware of the opportunities to use the loan system to the Club's advantage, coming into SMS so far he has brought in Richard Chaplow who is already starting to show that he could have a longer future here, and Nicholas Bignall who although has showed a willingness coming off the bench probably wont be kept past his month, if only for the fact that with David Connolly back in action he would be fifth in line for a place up front.
In the other direction there arent too many Saints fans arguing with the departures to the New year at least of Antony Pulis and Paul Wotton, neither looks likely to figure in the first team either short or long term and their future looks to be away from St Mary's.
That leaves Joseph Mills who now appears to be starring in Doncaster's Championship team after a man of the match display on Saturday when his cross set up a goal, the question will be whether he will now be recalled and given the chance to do it with us ?
So far he hasnt had that opportunity and some fans let their views on Mills be blinkered by his spell in Jan Poortvliet's side a couple of years ago, when he along with other youngsters had to be effectively thrown to the Wolves as Saints looked to slash costs by shipping out players on high wages on loan.
The worry with Mills is that he will follow the route of his brother out of the St Mary's door, Matthew Mills was overlooked for jobbing central defenders and allowed to get out of contract, he has since enjoyed a career that in the main has been in a standard higher than his former employers ie us, we dont want to let Joseph Mills go the same way.
