Southampton Could Still Offload A Few Players In This Transfer Window.

The trouble with the transfer window is that as it encompasses so many different countries, it does not end on the same date across the board, in the UK it ended on 30th August, whereas in most of Europe it is today 2nd September and in some cases later.

Saints could still bring in a bit of money into the kitty in the next few days, although our transfer window slammed shut on Friday, in most of the rest of the World it is still open.

We could still sell players to clubs in countries such as the Netherlands & Portugal up to today, but Austria doesn't shut till September 5th, Belgium is a day later and in Turkey where Trabzonspor are pursuing Paul Okuanchu, they have until September 13th to do the deal.

So there is time yet to get some players off the books, three who could go are the aforementioned Tall Paul, who seems the most likely to leave, Armel Bella-Kotchap who could again find a club in the Netherlands where he spent last season on loan at PSV and Sulemana who now seems to be very much surplus to requirements.

Although the last few days of the transfer window clearly showed that Sport Republic are committed to the club and willing to put their money where their mouth is, that doesn't mean we don't have to cut our cloth with Football's Financial Fair Play rules now very much in place.

This being the case it is important to get players off the books that we don't now want, OK we can't spent it till January, but anything that we can get in the kitty may be an advantage when the window does reopen and might well be crucial in stealing a march on our rivals for our transfer targets.
