Yet Another Ex Player Close To Re-joining Southampton

With Adam Lallana already signed sealed and delivered and Danny Ings seemingly trying to squeeze a few more bob out of West Ham United, comes reports that another ex Saint is in talks to return to St Mary's.

givemesport.com usually one of the more reliable sources of transfer rumour are reporting that the football media in Turkey are claiming that Southampton have reportedly agreed a major deal with ex-Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Turkish club Besiktas on a 3 year deal from Liverpool last summer and initially was a success, scoring 4 times in his first 14 games before injuring himself in December of last year, he was out for 3 months but returned for the end of the season and played in another 6 games mainly off the bench.

The player who will turn 31 next month, following the appointment of new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the Turkish side are now expected to undergo a significant rebuild, leaving Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future uncertain.

Speaking to Sky Sports last year, he hinted at a return to England after just six months with Besiktas, admitting to being homesick and enduring ‘difficult moments’ in Turkey.

Now it seems that he could be leaving Turkey with Besiktas looking to clear their wage bill, he joined them on a free transfer last summer and presumably the Turkish side would be happy to let him go for the same price in order to get his £68,000 a week wage off the books.

Oxlade-Chamberlain played 36 times in the League for the club in his first spell at Southampton, all in League one before joining Arsenal after allegedly he and his Father who was acting as his agent at the time fell out with then Saints CEO Nicola Cortese.
