How did Aimar Govea get spotted in amongst all the UK talent available ?

Aside the reports on Juventus and their interest in Swansea City’s Aimar Govea over the last few days, and there is clearly - we thought we would apply the Who, Why, What, Where, When, How questions to this latest interest.

First off we have had it confirmed that this is a genuine interest, and to be honest we don’t rely on the mainstream media for these types of questions we require answering, we always go to our tried and tested sources. Many are agents, some as obscure as your next door neighbour, and most certainly European based journalists have always been very helpful. Be that the breaking of Hannes Wolf coming to Swansea or any number of situations we have developed so our readership get good, concise and factual information. Joel Piroe another example. Steve Cooper leaving etc …

The internet is a great time stamp.

However, we have learned that this type of news isn’t that meaningful, and at times we actually disregard a news story even though the clicks would be massive. For us they are big enough anyway. Who really cares if we or someone else knows something ten minutes before someone else ? We tend to steer clear of these types of stories because they cause torment in the minds of the confused who fight their battles from behind a computer.

This item today is of interest because ‘How can Juve actually know about Aimar Govea primarily playing in the Swansea City Under 21 side‘ ? When you look at it like that it’s mad to think they would know. In fact Juve have 22,000 young players spread around the world going through a huge variety of programmes from the very young, to their ‘Next Gen’ squad, and of course a variety of age groups including U19. And that’s just scraping the first layer of paint.

IF Aimar was to go to Juventus at any point, and you would think there’s more to come on this it’s possible he could feature in the U19 set up who train and play at the Juventus Training Centre in Vinovo, Italy. However, there’s a number of possibilities for the eighteen year old. He could find himself back on loan at Swansea, or indeed loaned out by Juve to gain experience of the Italian league system. So, how did Juve find this young man ?

Quite simply he was scouted in Wales primarily.

Juve U19 : We thought of a certain Swansea born legend too

Juventus have an academy in Cardiff looking to unearth Welsh based talent and employ a number of coaches to enable this to happen. They are based in Leckwith with an all year round training facility, and are currently run by amongst others football coach, Jamal Griffiths. He has been assisted by well regarded goalkeeper coach, Paulo Calefati. Paulo now works around the world delivering sessions, and ensuring the exact science of the ‘Juve Way’ is applied globally. A number of Juve coaches visit the centre and the young players make visits to the main training base in Vinovo. The academy in Wales concentrates on players up to age sixteen.

Via some excellent sleuth work by two of our esteemed writers we have learned that Aimar Govea has been known to Juve via the academy in Wales for about eighteen months. They have watched him on numerous occasions, and were especially impressed by his first team break through last season. Their scouting reports have hit the desks of the decision makers at Juve, and they too are moving towards making an offer that they believe would interest Swansea City. By all accounts …Now, whether that happens or not is another story, with so many players on their books, and a global training plan that includes nine academies in the UK it’s a bit of a minefield. The needle in the haystack may well be Aimar Govea, but there needs to be a caveat.

Football Director, Christiano Giuntoli alongside Chief Executive, Maurizio Scanavino are the end of line arbitrators, they deny or proceed with deals that could lead to financial impact at the club. However, not before President, Gianluca Ferrero on behalf of the Agnelli family who own Juventus have at least been advised. It’s a familiar chain in Italy, and financial mistakes won’t go unpunished. Of course, the Gambino family had other ways, we are not inferring that.

The other issue is that Govea, if he remains at Swansea will most certainly have a bigger platform to display his talents. At Juve he could be lost in a plethora of names, most of whom will never succeed with the Italian club. His agents at Leaderbrock who generally look after players from Spain and South America will be an influence now Govea is eighteen (lazy journalism says he is seventeen) and the interest is there from the Italians. Swansea Chairman, Andrew Coleman may well be preparing his speech for Govea to leave. If he’s sensible he will drive the Italians hard to test their interest, especially with the million pound deal mentioned. Either way, this story will run for a while longer.

However, not until the ‘old lady’ sings in an appropriate manner financially.
