Here Are The Summer 2024 Transfer Window Opening And Closing Dates

Many expected the 2024 summer transfer window to open on June 1st, but that has been and gone and it still hasn't opened for business, find out all the important dates this summer here.

This years Summer transfer window will open later this week on Friday June 14th, the same day the Euro's start with Scotland taking on Germany.

It will slam shut again on August 30th at 11pm UK time.

The Premier League brought forward Deadline Day to bring it in line with the major leagues in Europe. The closing dates were set following discussions with the leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

But there is unlikely to be many deals done on Friday, as i remind everyone every year, this is due to all contracts running to July 1st and even if a player is mid contract he is usually due a loyalty bonus for still being at the club on that date.

That means that most players although unofficially agreeing deals through their agents will stay put until July 1st and trigger their loyalty payment.

There are of course some exceptions, usually wonderkids who are moving to a far bigger club, so would be financially better off moving ahead of a bonus payment.

So if a club announces it has agreed a deal with a player ahead of the transfer window, it is virtually putting out an advert for the fact that the players is not done and dusted and could be tempted by a higher offer.

The truth is that most clubs keep these deals quiet, the agent however is a different matter, they might have agreed a deal in principle but it can't be signed and sealed to the window opens, and agents you may be shocked and stunned to learn, sometimes put money ahead of what, to the majority of us look like a better option for a player.
