Southampton Said To Be Readying £26 Million Bid In January

Back in the summer Saints raked in a lot of money from transfer fee's, their strategy though was not to spend it, but utilise loan signings, which they have done to great effect, but reports in Italy suggest they are about to smash not only their own transfer record, but the Championship's itself.

the realefl.co.uk is claiming that Southampton are about to smash their own transfer record in January and are readying a £26 million bid for Juventus winger Matias Soule

The 20 year old is currently out on loan with fellow Serie A side Frosinone with whom he has played 14 games in the League scoring 20 goals.

The Argentinian who will turn 21 in April is said to be also attracting attention from Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.

A contemporary of Charley Alcaraz, you have to say in terms of his development he is a long way behind him.

However are Saints really ready to splash out this amount of money for a player who is relatively untried and also in a position where they seemingly have plenty of options ?

The players value on transfermarkt.com is just 8 million euros so less than £7 million, so surely Saints are not going to pay something around 4 times his current value.

The answer is that they are probably not, although Soule is the sort of player that is on their radar and indeed the type that the club have been looking for over the past decade, long before Sport Republic we were picking up the likes of Sadio Mane under the radar, I would suggest that the links with Palace and Newcastle plus the inflated fee suggest that not only has his agent been busy lately, but also Juventus who are quoting large fee's either to generate interest or for that matter put off potential suitors.
