You will find it hard to find a Saints supporter who has a good word to say about Tall Paul Onauchu, now it seems that the saga could be at an end, at least temporarily with a move to Turkey.
According to sportwitness.co.uk Southampton striker Paul Onauchu is heading for Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor who as part of the deal will be loaning one of their players to our fellow Sport Republic owned club Goztepe.
Although the report does not clarify I would imagine that Onauchu will join Trabzonspor on loan, given the size of his wages in England.
Onauchu like James Bree has found himself a victim of circumstance, initially he showed a little bit of promise, if a header had gone in at Stamford Bridge in one of his first games or indeed another header against West Ham, it might have changed the course of his first months at St Mary's but they didn't and it didn't.
He was then like a rabbit in the head lights, not knowing what to do next for the best and he had little impact, although under Ruben Selles policy of panic and change he did get the odd occasion to redeem himself.
When Russell Martin arrived with his possession football, this was never going to be Tall Paul's type of game as was shown at Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
Hopefully he will get back to the goal scoring form that drove us to sign him in the first place, if he does then perhaps we will stand a chance of getting some of our money back in a season or two.
I wish him well, even his biggest critic could not accuse him of not trying, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
