Earlier reports suggested that Ross Stewart had failed his medical at Southampton and that the transfer had been called off, rumour and counter rumour came thick and fast over the last few hours but now it seems that the deal is done.
Sky Sports news have confirmed that Southampton have completed the signing on a 4 year contract of Sunderland striker Ross Stewart, shortly after other media outlets were claiming that the deal was dead in the water after he had failed his medical.
Although Saints are yet to confirm Sunderland have revealed that Stewart has left the club for Southampton
It is assumed that it is on the deal mentioned yesterday of £8 million down with £2 million of add ons.
Stewart is said to be around 3-4 weeks away from fitness as claimed by Sunderland Manager Tony Mowbray earlier in the week, given that after tomorrow there is two weeks before the next game, that means that he won't miss as much football as that timescale sounds.
Given that Che Adams is staying at the club it has been a good day for Saints in the transfer window and they now will have a potent strike force, perhaps the most potent in the division and it will be interesting to see if it is bolstered by Kamaldeen Sulemana who now seems to have not moved during this window anyway.
