Hojbjerg Spurs Career Starts With A Trophy

Pierre Emile Hojbjerg's decision to join Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Everton and other unamed European greats has already been vindicated with the news that Spurs have already racked up their first trophy of the season.

Teams like Tottenham Hotspur do not play friendlies, every game is a competitive match and every win a step forward in a relentless quest to surge ahead of Portsmouth and equal Huddersfield Town's tally of 3 top flight titles.

The North London Yobbo's like the Portsdown Hillbillies believe a title is a title and a cup a cup and each is just as deserving in booking the open top bus and parading around their supporter heartland, in Spurs case a little more difficult these days as Milton Keynes council is not so keen to grant permission now their town has it's own team.

But even Hojbjerg was surprised that he should achieve success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so fast, he was sitting peacefully having his medical when in burst an excited Daniel Levy and handed him a winners medal.

A little known fact, unless you were strolling around Milton Keynes last August and wondered why a load of Spurs players were on an open topped bus waving what looked like a trophy for the local Darts League around, was that last season, Tottenham won the Audi Cup.

The route to the final was arduous, the four team tournament hosted by Bayern Munich saw Spurs beat Real Madrid in the semi's, then the following day fight out a 2-2 draw with the home side before winning 6-5 on penalties.

The celebrations were wild and Spurs were determined that this would be the first of many trophies.

The delayed end to the season aligned with the Hojbjerg transfer saga dragging on, meant that Jose Mourinho's plans to defend the trophy were disrupted and much hissy fitting could be heard from the TH Stadium.

Then came the news that the tournament would not be played in 2020 and that was seen by the THFC hierarchy that therefore Spurs would remain Audi Cup holders.

Calm was appealed for on Milton Keynes FM, they did not want a repeat of the scenes when Liverpool won the league earlier this summer and also wished to prevent the ugly situation a year ago when several OAP's got on the Spurs bus at some traffic lights and refused to get of till it got to the town centre.

In the end it was all a little more sedate and aside from a few Spurs fans who demanded a drink after closing time in Fenny Stratford , the evening passed without incident.

But when the dust had settled, the facts could not be argued with, Spurs are the first winners of a trophy this season.

A quick e mail was dashed off to Bayern Munich to make sure that the German's had the right address now to send the medals to, as Daniel Levy had only paid for the mail to be redirected for the first year after they moved from White Hart Lane and that had now expired.

But Bayern's response was swift and came as a shock, they pointed out that the Audi Cup was a biennial affair and was not due to be played in 2020 and could they have their trophy back.

This was a problem, Spurs had already had thousands of "Tottenham Hotspur Audi Cup Winners 2020" T shirts printed and in the store and they had ordered a run of this season's first team shirt with the trophy win embroidered on, luckily they had not yet paid out the bonus's to the playing squad.

A deputation lead by Harry Kane and Delle Ali met with Levy and although they conceded they were willing to forego the bonus's, they still wanted the medal, after all they had seen little signs of any over the years.

The club therefore decided that they would cast their own Audi Cup winners medals which were presented to the First team squad in a moving ceremony on Friday afternoon and twitter saw reports of Spurs players wearing the medal's around their necks in various supermarkets, up market Weatherspoons and garage forecourts in Hertfordshire over the weekend.

But this now posed another problem, if history was repeated, then the Spurs players would wear these medals for months, after all they knew that playing for the North London Soccer Chickens meant they didn't know when or even if, they would see another.

This would cause division within the squad when the new signings arrived at training in the next week, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg was the going to be the new top dog in the squad, after all he was the Number One Transfer Target and the man whose shoulders, winning Spurs first league title in 60 years would rest upon.

A quick phone call to his agent Pini Zahavi revealed that yes the player would like a medal and that yes this would trigger a bonus from Spurs to both Hojberg and more importantly Zahavi himself.

So yesterday Daniel Levy, Jose Mourinho and a celebrity Spurs fan who turned out to be Dave from the pop duo Chas & Dave surprised Hojbjerg at his medical to present him with a medal.

Apparently it was a moving sight with the player almost in tears and he immediately put the medal around his neck and has not taken it off since.

On his Twitter account Hojbjerg whom Spurs fans were claiming appeared to be wearing a pair of Spurs Boxer Shorts under his gown during the medical said.

" Glory glory Soccer Chickens, this is why I turned down Everton, to win trophies, I will never take it off"

Bayern Munich were reported in German media outlet Die Bilt to be considering legal action to get their trophy back, as well as the implications of counterfeit medals doing the rounds in North London.

In other news Tottenham Hotspur announced ticket prices would rise by £10 on the back of this trophy win
