Steven Davis Injury Blow
Saints fans will be worried to hear that Steven Davis will miss the Newcastle United game and could be out for a lot longer.
Steven Davis is a vital component of the Saints midfield and Saints supporters will be sorry to hear he will miss the Newcastle game with an ankle injury and he could be out for two or even three weeks.
However Ronald Koeman is optimistic that he could return sooner.
Speaking ahead of the clash with the Geordies at St Mary's the Dutch manager said.
"Steven Davis is not fit.
"He got an injury out of the Leicester game and is not fit for the weekend."
But Koeman is not sure how long the injury will keep Davis out and he commented.
"I don’t know. What I heard normally he will be out for two or three weeks and I don’t know if he is available for next weekend."
"I hope he will be fit for next weekend but we must wait.”
Although Saints supporters will be praying that Steven Davis will be out for only Saturday's home game it is an area of the team where Saints have a plethora of options both in terms of attacking and defensively.
Davis will not be missed so much against Newcastle and indeed it could give Koeman the opportunity to play a more attacking formation, however when Saints travel to Merseyside to take on Everton the Northern Ireland midfielder would be one of the first names on the team sheet
