Who Is Your Saints Player Of The Month For October

With the Bournemouth game pushed back a day and therefore into November we can now consider the options for October's player of the month.

During the month of October Saints have played 4 matches, the great 3-1 win at Chelsea, the 2-2 draw with Leicester, the 1-1 draw at Liverpool and finally the 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup, it has been a great month for Saints on the pitch, but who has been the Saints player who has made the most difference on it?

1 Graziano Pelle - The Italian will be the favourite for this month after starting it with a display at Chelsea that could best be described as the best centre forward display in a Saints shirt in many a year, certainly in the top flight.

2. Maarten Stekelenburg - The Dutch keeper could be a surprise choice for some, sometimes it takes a player to be out for some to recognise his contribution and this was the case with Stekelenburg, when he was injured for the Leicester game it showed just how much a good keeper does for a team that isn't recognised, it could be said that Fraser Forster also never got true credit till he was injured.

3. Cedric Soares - The Portugese full back took a bit of time to find his feet but his performances of late have been superb, at Chelsea he was solid and got forward, against Leicester he again showed how brave he is and like Stekelenburg it was noticeable when he had to go off and at Liverpool he crried on where he left off at Chelsea.

4. Virgil Van Dijk - The Dutch defender is now really showing why Ronald Koeman rated him so highly and why he was willing to wait to get his man, rock solid in all four games but also potent going forward either with the ball or from set pieces in the other penalty area.

5. Steven Davis - The Northern Ireland international captain has had a great month, not only has he qualified for the Euros with his country, but he has had a great month for Saints, he started the month with an immense display at Stamford Bridge and finished it by coming off the bench and hitting sublime pass for Dusan Tadic to cross for Pelle to score what would be a crucial goal.

6. Victor Wanyama - The Mighty Kenyan started the month with a cloud still over his head in the eyes of the fans, however his displays have shown that he is still committed to the club on the field whatever happens on it. another month of strong displays.
