Monk: Swans Weren't Up To Scratch
When your team has been beaten easily at Southampton there is no point in trying to dress up the performance as something that it wasn't and Garry Monk was clear when he said after the game that his side were not up to scratch.
Monk watched his side lose their third consecutive away game and extend their winless run to four games since the last international break as we surrendered too easily against a Southampton side that started the day down in 16th place.
With many players looking short on form and on confidence this is something that needs to be addressed soon and Garry and his squad have a big week ahead of them when they get back to Swansea for next up is an in form Tottenham team.
When the players went into September we looked at the top of our game thanks to eight points from our first four and there was much talk about Europe and beyond for the Swans. One month later and with just one goal and one point to show for our efforts in September it is a different position and Garry will desperately not want his side to go into the next break on the back of a winless period.
"You cant leave it to the last ten minutes after another not up to scratch performance" said Monk.
"That is two in a row in away games and it is something we need to fix. We weren’t focused enough and we made too many individual mistakes which we cannot afford to do.
"They punished us for those mistakes and it is something that we need to go back and look at."
