Derby County Interested In Harrison Reed

Derby County are apparently interested in taking Saints midfielder Harrison Reed to the iPro Stadium or whatever its called these days.

According to the latest media report Derby County are interested in taking Harrison Reed on a season long loan from Saints.

Reed is highly rated at St Mary's but so far has been unable to force his way into the side on a regular basis and the arrival of both Jordy Clasie and Oriol Romeu is likely to push him further down the pecking order in a crowded central midfield.

Reed is seen as a deep lying midfielder and with Wanyama, Clasie & Romeu ahead of him in the pecking order for this effectively two positions and Steven Davis also able to play the role if needed, it could be that Saints see a loan spell as a good way for Reed to pick up further paying experience which he is unlikely to get this season at St Mary's.

Reed of course would be probably disappointed to go but will know he needs to get more game time this season if he is to make the next jump at St Mary's into being a true first team regular.

At the moment there is a slight blockge in the stream of youngsters coming through in that Saints have jumped up a level in terms of where they are and some of the youngsters like Reed are caught in the middle where they are not quite developed enough to make tht jump, so Saints need to buy in experience and then perhaps loan some of the kids out to get vital competitive experience at a good level.
