Mellis? Mellis? Who the f**k is Mellis?
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our first "Sky Sports Understands" of the Summer.....
...and with that the close season is officially open for business.
Our friends at Sky have suggested that Blackpool midfielder Jacob Mellis is a target for both ourselves and Fleetwood Town having been released by Blackpool earlier this month.
Mellis is a former Barnsley player and by all accounts, produced the best football of his career whilst playing under Hill at Oakwell before meandering his way through the past couple of seasons.
Wiki reports that he's 24, and having started at Sheffield United, he become a £1 million signing for Chelsea before being sacked for setting off a smoke grenade at the training ground. Should have just borrowed Ashley's air rifle, and he'd have been fine.
He made nearly ninety appearances for Barnsley before moving to Blackpool last Summer. He made a handful of appearances for the troubled seaside club before a loan spell at Oldham.
In terms of the lazy journalism ticksheet, Mellis has been linked with the closest club geographically to his old one and also to a team managed by his former manager.
