The One that Got away?

Forget the razzamatazz of 'Player of the Season' awards nights up and down the country, Blackpool FC held there's in a press room which is the size of a cupboard. When Jamie O'Hara accepted the award, his acceptance speech wouldn't have lasted long as the press boys would have been unplugging their computers and turning the lights off. O'Hara has said that this season has been memorable and for all the wrong reasons.

In a campaign where there were few highs, O'Hara's appearance in a tangerine shirt was one of them. When he arrived a few thought he was passed it and coming for a hand out (as most players do at Bloomfield Road), however instead he proved he is still a class player and one who actually cared what was happening at the club. Admittedly he replaced John Lundstram, hardly big shoes to fill, but with his corners and set pieces he instantly improved the side, his eye for a pass was a welcome change and his combative midfield style made him head and shoulders the best player in the side.

O'Hara says the club was a shambles - nothing new there then. From no kit man to washing their own shirts through to the last day demonstrations. He has been offered a new deal but he will spend the summer considering his options and many see it as unlikely that he'll return to Bloomfield Road after this season's experience. He will be one of only few players that will be memorable from the appalling season and we can but hope that other offers don't flood in and he returns in August.
