Schneiderlin Left Out Of Saints Squad For Leverkusen

Morgan Schneiderlin will not take any part in the friendly against Bayer Leverkusen after a showdown meeting with Ronald Koeman and Ralph Krueger on Friday morning.

Saints have announced that Schneiderlin will not play because he is not physically and more importantly not mentally prepared for the game and has been told to take the weekend off to think about his position.

Once again the Frenchman was told that he would not be sold in this transfer window and obviously this is something that he is finding it hard to accept, I can understand why he would be frustrated that h cannot follow some of his colleagues and perhaps treble his wages at a so called bigger club and im sure many Saints fans will have some sympathy in the fact that out of the five who have been sold for big money, Adam Lallana apart, Schneiderlin has done more than most to deserve his service allowing him a move and there must be some frustration that those with less dedication to our cause have been allowed to go and feather their nests whilst he is being forced to stay.

I can sympathise with him, but on the other hand he is under contract to Saints and is a professional footballer, he signed that contract so the club is fully entitled to expect him to honour it, contracts are two way things and yes it might not suit him to stay, but football is a tough game and there are plenty who have been in similar psotions to him at their clubs yet have not acted with such childish behaviour.

If Schneiderlin is not mentally prepared then that has to be a question mark about his attitude and perhaps might tell him why it took him so long to win a French cap.

Ironically Saints have a plethora of midfield players, aguably he is the one player that we can replace with both Cork and Wanyama chomping at the bit to play in his position as well as several other able to play in that role, perhaps in another situation it would suit Saints very much to let him leave, but sadly that situation is not the one we are in now, Schneiderlin has to now knuckle down, accept that he is going to stay at least in the short term, help Saints to a good start to the season and then the rewards both financially and in terms of playing career will come his way.
