Davies Not Rising To Ince's Comments

Ben Davies wants the Swans to do their talking on the pitch in response to Tom Ince's comments earlier in the week which have probably only served to fire up the Swans ahead of the game.

Ince was a target for the Swans in the January transfer window before he went on a tour of Britain with his dad to see which club would give him the best deal forcing the Swans to pull the plug on any potential deal and leaving Ince to join Crystal Palace in their fight against relegation.

And earlier in the week he had this to say in the South London press "Swansea play nice football and did ever so well against Napoli - but will they be able to handle the threat we give them with Glenn Murray, Marouane Chamakh, Cameron Jerome, Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon and myself?

"They will want to play their fluid type of football and be expansive - but look at the amount of times we counter-attacked West Brom.

"It’s different when you play Manchester United because they keep the ball so well. Swansea play similar but are probably not as effective - they haven’t got the Wayne Rooneys and Robin van Persies who, when you do give them the space, will kill you off. We have to nullify what Swansea do and then play our own game. I’m sure Swansea won’t be able to handle what we do."

I am not quite sure which part of what those players have to offer that will actually worry the Swans in general but having just come off a three match run that has seen us play Napoli twice and Liverpool whilst managing and coping with them all the way it seems a little bit crazy of Ince to believe that the Swans cannot handle Palace.

There is a suggestion that it was down to bitterness towards the Swans when they pulled the deal to sign him which has a degree of logic but one thing is certain is that the Swans were not rising to the war of the words ahead of the game.

Defender Davies said "We just want to let our football do the talking on the pitch on Sunday and if we win the game we won’t have to make any comments afterwards, we’ll just be able to look at the league table.”

Victory for the Swans will put them five points ahead of Palace in the table and with confidence high in the camp following some excellent performances I am not sure I would bet on anything other than a home win tomorrow.

And if that happens then the comments from Ince will I suspect be conspicuous in their absence.
