Arsenal v QPR Betting Preview

Our pundits are back to look ahead to QPR’s latest hiding to nothing and a weekend of betting opportunities elsewhere.

Not the best week from a personal betting point of view. A £10 treble for £150 was roaring home last Saturday until Crewe equalised in injury time and although those winnings were attained in a draw double on Sunday I was then undone on Tuesday night when a £3 stake would have brought nearly £160 for three draws but Derby won their match at Ipswich with the last kick. That Crewe goal cost our Pro his bet of the week as well. Bastards.

I should just follow Andy Hillman, who picked up two wins last week based on picking games where he fancied both teams to score. Hi list of winners this season is getting so impressive I’m thinking of ways to reformat it.

Longshot - Goals Galore 8/1 Quad, 18/10/12

One of these days you’ll all start listening to what I’ve got to say. And when you do... I’ll start losing. Of course, if you were already listening to what I have to say, you’ll have noticed that my trebles and quad goals galore came in over the weekend, netting you 4/1, 4/1, 4/1 and 8/1 winners to go with my 5/6 NAP of both teams to score in the West Brom vs Man City game.

NAP - Sheffied United to beat Portsmouth @ 5/6

Sheffield United are unbeaten this season, and have won five of their last six games. Portsmouth are certainly defying my expectations - I expected them to be relegated already - but United should win here.

QPR related bet - Arsenal vs QPR - Both teams to score @ 4/5

Arsenal have lost back to back games, and Wenger’s position is looking as precarious as Hughes’ is at the moment. I reckon that this match will end a draw, but both teams to score looks a much safer bet.

Longshot - Sunday afternoon ‘Goals Galore’ @ 4/1 & 8/1

Four games on Sunday - Everton vs Liverpool, Newcastle vs West Brom, Saints vs Spurs & Chelsea vs Man Utd. Trebles and the quad on both teams to score pays around 4/1 and 8/1 respectively.

One for the Notebook - AC Milan vs Genoa - Lay Milan @ 2/1

AC Milan are in absolutely shocking form at the moment. They’ve lost their last three on the bounce, and are currently 15th in Serie A. You can get odds of 2/1 that they don’t win, against a Genoa side who have scored in seven of their last eight games.

Rangers travel to an under pressure Arsenal this week on the back of a decent point against Everton. From a compilers’ point of view, I can’t go into much statistical analysis for this one. The simple truth is having a confident bet on a QPR match prior to the team announcement is a bit like Russian roulette at the moment. Hopefully Sunday will have gone some way to showing Hughes that at present, we can’t defend, so let’s make use of our attacking abilities.

Jamie Redknapp made a point during the week that if you stop Cazorla, you stop Arsenal and for once I have to agree with the guy. Everything good Arsenal seem to do goes through him and depending how Hughes deals with this determine the outcome of this match. Wilshere may be forced into action earlier than expected due to Arsenal's recent mini-slump but they miss a host of other quality players, and these days Arsenal need all the quality they can lay their hands on after the revolving door saw yet more big name departures in the summer. Arsenal are there for the taking and with Gibbs still out, they will have to continue with Andre ' I prove the theory that Brazilian defenders can’t defend' Santos at left back. That could open the door for Hoilett to continue his goal scoring as he does all his best work coming in from that right hand side.

So without having any confidence in what side Hughes will pick - my recommended bet for this week is a small each way on first goal scorer market Junior Hoilett at Ladbrokes at a tempting 16/1. (1/3 odds first five goals)
