Happy 15th birthday, RamZone!

This month it's 15 years since RamZone saw the light of day. It's an amazing feat that the site is still going strong thanks to the work of volunteer RamZone team members.

Even though I haven't contributed much for the last couple of years since I stepped down as editor of RamZone, I was asked to write an article to mark this occasion since I founded the site back in December '96 when I was just 14 years old and it was originally called "Arild's cool homepage". RamZone has been a part of over half my life now!

One of the oldest Rams sites on the Net could never have lasted that long without the people who have put in their time and effort into writing articles and contributing on their spare time. The RamZone team has been remarkably stable over the years and Mick McDermott's match previews, I Saw & Old One Eye's match reports and Paul Mortimer's RamsWeeks are driving the site and are always of high quality.

Maybe most praise of all goes to editor Daniel J Sewart who took over the reigns from me and have done a really great job. He's running the site in the middle of his busy life in Australia and if there's anyone out there who would be willing to help out with writing articles for the site, please do get in touch with him.

Personally, I must admit my Rams interest is at an all time low these days. I'm getting married next year which is taking some focus and my local team in Norway is doing quite well and has finished in the top 5 three years in a row now. More than any of this, Derby looks like a team that's going nowhere. Real quality and proper investment is needed and I worry that the current team is striving to finish in 10th place and be pleased with that. A club of Derby's size should never be content with anything other than challenging for promotion and staying in the top division. I do of course follow all matches online, watch whatever I can on TV and I was in London just recently for a very cold match at Selhurst Park between Crystal Palace and Derby and at least they didn't lose!

All that remains for me now is to wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy new year, and thank everyone who has visited the site over the years, posted on the forum and made it possible to keep doing this for 15 years.

Maybe RamZone will just go on forever?
