Refwatch Preview: Sheff Weds (a)
Nigel Miller will be the man in charge at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Mr Miller is one of the most recognisable officials in the Football League and tends to pop up on live Sky games every so often and has even taken charge of play-off matches since joining the league list in 2003.
He has received plenty of appointments at Championship level in the past, although these receded somewhat last season when it was rumoured he was closing in on retirement.
However, Nigel is still with us and on Saturday will referee Dale for the tenth time.
His previous Dale games were:
Dec 2003 v Boston (h), W 1-0
Oct 2004 v Yeovil (h), W 2-1
Nov 2005 v Chester (h), D 2-2
Apr 2007 v Macclesfield (h), W 5-0
Mar 2008 v Stockport (a), L 0-2
Oct 2008 v Carlisle (h, JPT), D 2-2
Nov 2009 v Notts Co (h), W 2-1
Aug 2010 v Colchester (h), L 1-2
Mar 2011 v Huddersfield (a), L 1-2
The last match in that list was of course the emotional evening in March when Dale fans showed their true colours with the respect they displayed when Huddersfield’s Anthony Pilkington suffered his career-threatening injury.
Altogether last season Nigel refereed 26 games, showing 60 yellow cards and six red.
