Bunn tipped to be Eyre's no. 2

Former Oldham striker Frankie Bunn has been tipped to become new Dale manager Steve Eyre's assistant.

Bunn, who it is actually illegal to mention without saying that he is Paul Scholes' favourite ever footballer, is currently on the coaching staff at Newcastle United, but is expected to leave the Geordies in the next few days to move to Spotland.

It was Eyre's former City coaching colleague Paul Power who named Bunn as Eyre's assistant saying that the partnership between Eyre and Bunn would be "fantastic".

If he does come to Spotland, he will bring with him experience of managing within the Football League, after a coaching career which has seen him at Wigan, Man City, and Coventry, where he had a spell as joint manager.

Eyre alluded to the fact that there was still one or two issues with regards to his recruitment of his backroom staff at his Tuesday press conference, but he has a number of vacancies at the club still to be filled following the departures from Spotland.
