Without saying what he *should* do, what he *will* do is Konsa in for Guehi and otherwise unchanged.
Perhaps if Trippier isn’t ready Saka at LB and Palmer in but I’m sure he’ll be fine.

I usually agree with you on most things AH but on this one I think you’re wrong - one of the many glaring issues has been that everytime Foden gets the ball he wants to come inside. Everytime Saka gets it he wants to come inside - ironically one of the few times Saka has gone outside it’s actually created a goal…
Now of course this is exacerbated by Trippier never getting on beyond Foden and whenever he receives the ball in the attacking third telegraphing that he’s coming inside but also Walker not being allowed to bomb on as much as he does for City.
Against Switzerland it might actually be better to start Bowen and Gordon to target their 3 at the back system, but of course Southgate won’t, it’ll be Foden and Palmer/Saka again. |

Newsom is *not* a good candidate vs Trump.
Newsom is a recovering/recovered alcoholic who also had an affair with his right hand man’s wife.
Newsom is a smooth politician who could in ‘normal’ times easily be a future president, but not vs Trump - you immediately can’t use Stormy Daniels as he will just point out Newsom’s affair, you go after Trumps felonies and he comes back with Newsom’s alcoholism.
For this election if you removed Biden - which they won’t - it has to be Gretchen Whitmer, with either Shapiro or Warnock as VP. |

Can’t comment on whether he’s good enough for the PL, but it’s the reality that had Boavista’s chairman not been following him around England last summer like a psycho ex, he very likely would’ve got a PL deal.
With PSR biting hard, I can see one of the London clubs coming in again as a cheap squad option. |

It’s always been very possible that Cannon would go this summer - he had PL interest before coming here and now that QPR took the plunge the legal issues are resolved. If someone makes a fair offer for him (maybe late in the window) i doubt the club will stand in his way. |

As said earlier in this thread I don’t think it was ever likely he was going to stay - I’m sure both sides kicked the tyres as a last resort but both had better options elsewhere. |

The Swedish pundits last night were John Guidetti and Olof Mellberg - both said it has to be Gordon in the left, Rice & Bellingham in the centre with Foden infront.
Not really saying much but interesting that neutrals can see it as well.
They also had a long chat about how England are far too nice and would be a completely different team with someone like Rooney in it. |

You’re spot on infact that right now it would be Austria
However if England were to put several past Slovenia tonight it would become Slovakia in the next round and if Czech Republic were to win we would play them.
So best bet is for Gareth to not try and sit back on a 1-0 tonight and hope the Czechs don’t beat Turkey. |

The answer is pretty simple - you play Rice as the ‘6’, you have a stern talk with Bellingham and tell him to put his ego aside and his country first as the ‘8’ and Foden as the ‘10’ with 2 proper wingers. |

It’s important to acknowledge that indeed much of the vitriol Southgate gets is overblown and unwarranted.
At the same time, when one of Europes most successful managers - and current FA Cup holder - is willing to go on English national tv and say the manager is a coward whose only game plan is to nick one and then sit in deep and hold on, you know where the problem ultimately lies.
The obvious change would be dropping Bellingham in deeper, Foden at #10 and Gordon out on the left but Southgate is a super conservative guy, he’s going to end up going same XI vs Slovenia. |
