Yeah, just finished it. Really enjoyed it, I liked it's low-budget near-monochrome that reflected the bleakness of the Donegal landscape and the people eking out their existence there. I also liked the fact it was in Irish, after a while I was able to tune into the cadences of their speech, if not the meaning. |

So, despite the immense pressure and the rising tide of discontent from some sections of the Rangers fan base, Marti persists with Celar, backs him to score after that penalty miss, and is rewarded with last night's performance from him. That's how you handle it when the cupboard is bare. That's top management, right there. |

The dire run of results has left us fearing every game, but let's face it: Cardiff are not Brazil. They are eminently beatable, it just requires each individual player to put in a minimum 7/10 performance, which, criminally, hasn't happened since Luton away.
Since it looks like Marti is going to stick with Celar until he finally scores, or hell freezes over - whichever comes first - it seems pointless to consider alternatives to him, so perhaps it's time to try two up front to start? Something like this:

Dunne Cook Morrison Paal
Smith Varane Field Saito
Celar Lloyd

Seeing it appear on iplayer last night, I decided to start rewatching BBC's 2005 production of Bleak House that I enjoyed when it first aired.
Well, I think it's even better the second time around. For me, this has to be the best literary adaptation I have ever seen, and dare I say it, it actually enhances Dicken's novel with its fabulous evocation of 1830's London and brilliant casting. And the exceptional script and clever structure accentuate the fact that Bleak House is essentially a crime thriller.
But it's worth watching as a social history document alone, because you get a visceral sense of just how horrific the lives of many people were back then, living cheek-by-jowl with the sumptuous late-Georgian splendour of the rich.
I think it's so good, I suggest taking your time to fully absorb everything that's going on, because even the sets are worth lingering over - especially the incredible interiors. It's just feckin fantastic! A great series to lead you into Christmas. |

On the 1888-1915 series Ordnance Survey map you can see the outline of what would have been Shepherd's Bush FC's ground, boundaried on three sides by a school and the houses of Ellerslie and Loftus Roads - exactly as it is now - and the fields of Old Oak Farm to the North. South Africa Road didn't exist then. Shepherd's Bush FC were disbanded in 1915 and we moved in in 1917.
So clearly the answer is we need to change our name to Shepherd's Bush FC to appease the unhappy Life in the Bush of Ghosts. [Post edited 26 Nov 13:30]

With no recognisable striker and only one relatively creative midfielder we'll be lucky to scrape a draw. The situation with so many key players still out looks dire. Our only strength lies in set-pieces, where Cook, Dunne and Field can be dangerous. Apart from that it has to be a backs-to-the-wall effort not to concede. Heart says 0-0, head says heartbreaking loss. |

Rivercourt Road runs alongside my alma mater, so one side of it is nearly all school buildings... we used to chuck water bombs at the passing cars. How sad the current crop will no longer be able to avail themselves of this extracurricular activity. |
