| Forum Reply | Warbs talks lockdown form, signings, contracts and defence — Interview at 06:56 10 Sep 2020
I'm always surprised that fans are shocked by a manager backing his players. You can think that player x is completely useless, the manager may even share your opinion, however if the manager is relying on that player to do a job this season then he can hardly come out and say, 'yeah, fair point, he is shocking isn't he?!' I'm glad to see the manager being a little tetchy to be honest, perhaps (unlikely) it will get some fans to hold back and think before throwing a whole load of criticism in the direction of the players. There is an illusion amongst football fans that footballers should be remain completely unaffected by criticism. They get paid enough, deal with it. It is the biggest load of rubbish out there. Good players can be turned to bad by constant criticism. I'm not and never was a good footballer, however I once played for a manager who berated every poor pass/decision the team made. The outcome? If you get a chance to play a defence splitting ball that has a 50% chance of coming off, you instead stick to the safe pass sideways to avoid the barrage of abuse you will get if it doesn't. If you believe that is any different in the professional game you're wrong. |

Friends who are Luton fans (I know...) said he was a great player in easy wins and completely missing in difficult games. Not sure that is enough to write him off completely but it doesn't fill me with too much confidence |
| Forum Reply | Finney’s finest hour at 13:47 5 Jul 2020
Unpopular opinion time, I think Finney's 'passion' gets in the way of conversation on too many occasions. I am not doubting he is a good guy, I am not doubting he loves Rangers, but I find it a little cringey that things are either the best they have ever been or the worst. There doesn't seem to be a reasoned in between from him. |
| Forum Reply | To boo or not to boo... at 09:45 26 Sep 2019
Much like everyone else on this thread, I will politely applaud both Austin and Furlong before and after the game, the bit in between they are just opposition players who I hope have a mare. Won't boo Phillips, however he isn't a player I ever warmed to so I won't be clapping him either. Of course, it is pretty much nailed on that the three of them are going to have the games of their lives. |
| Forum Reply | QPR fan doing the tough mudder. at 06:44 24 Sep 2019
You'd be surprised how little you notice the distance in the 10 miler, the obstacles come thick and fast and you barely notice that you have run 10 miles by the end. The only thing I hated about tough mudder was the electric obstacles. They didn't hurt massively, but it just wasn't pleasant. If I ever did it again I'd be a wuss and walk around those ones! |

It's all a matter of personal preference really. There is very little between the consoles to the casual gamer. Perhaps you should have a look at the console specific games and see which ones appeal more? As for FIFA vs PES, again, it's a preference thing. Personally, I think PES plays better and is more akin to the real game. However it still severely lacks licences whereas with FIFA you'll be able to play as pretty much any team (except Juventus this year) and it'll have The KPF Stadium on there to play at. I guess it depends what you look for in a game. |
| Forum Reply | Luton sell all of their allocation at 06:56 6 Sep 2019
Luton have season ticket holders in that end now, so it seems unlikely they would move them out of the way to give us extra tickets. Will be interesting to see what they do with them when Millwall go down there though. |
| Forum Reply | Woke at 14:53 25 Aug 2019
Detest the term 'woke' and, sorry Clive, for once didn't enjoy the first part of the article. The problem with the term woke is that a) it suggests that the person who holds a view was oblivious to it previously, and b) is so often used now to suggest that a person's views aren't legitimate and are pretentious. 99% of the time any use of the word 'woke' will be to describe someone who doesn't share the same opinion, or even if they do, to belittle them and suggest that it is an opinion that they've only just realised when everyone else knew long ago. I blame the internet |
| Forum Reply | And so it begins at 07:07 23 Aug 2019
I had to have a word with a bloke after about 10 minutes as he repeatedly kept telling Scowen he was a c@nt, despite the fact he wasn't even on the pitch at that point. My favourite complaint of the night was the fella who screamed abuse at Hugill for always passing it backwards after he retrieved the ball from going out for a goal kick and knocked it back down the line to keep possession. I can only assume that he would rather Hugill had taken aim at a Swansea fan in the upper tier and booted it into the stands. Seriously, what do we have to do to change the attitude of some of our fans? A misplaced pass doesn't make someone a c@nt. We have had plenty over the years who have deserved to have that thrown at them, but if a player is giving their all then maybe we should just get behind them? |

Rob Styles, as mentioned, has to be on the list. That game at Wycombe was something else. Farcical goals literally taken in by the wind, Rob Styles waving his red card around for fun and the singer at half time that gave the R's fans the finger as he walked off after being booed for the entire song. |
| Forum Reply | Please do not leave a single seat unoccupied at 07:26 24 Jul 2019
It's stupid. I wanted 3 tickets for the cup game, I wanted to sit where we normally do, it wouldn't let me as it 'leaves a single seat'. So I booked the extra seat as an U8 ticket for free. Really is daft. |
| Forum Reply | Sol Campbell abuse at 07:22 31 Jan 2019
I am not offended by songs like that because I am not gay. Matt Lucas may not be offended by the song despite being gay, he may view it as a bit of fun and decide there is no offence to be taken. Another gay man who is present may see it as mocking his sexuality and therefore take offence. Which of the three of us is right? Also, chucking the 'even a homosexual man isn't offended by it...' line in is a little embarrassing. |
| Forum Reply | 'Advice' for QPR fans on the offy at 11:17 19 Sep 2018
Gotta say, I don't understand the fuss. Would I rather not have the inconvenience? Of Course. Would I rather not have to think about whether to take my kids to a game of football or not? Undoubtedly. Would I rather a little inconvenience to allow the police to do their jobs effectively and keep us all safe? 100%, every time. It really isn't a massive issue, the club have given you plenty of warning to make different arrangements and it will hopefully keep everyone safe. In an ideal world this doesn't need to happen. We don't live there. |
| Forum Reply | UEFA nations league?? at 09:04 28 Aug 2018
I think it is a half decent idea, it will give us some games that have some meaning to them against decent opposition. It will certainly be slightly more interesting than international friendlies. As mentioned already though, the worry is that the smaller nations don't get a chance to test themselves against the better ones, potentially limiting their ability to grow. |
| Forum Thread | Our fans at 06:52 22 Aug 2018
I am struggling to understand the mentality of some of our fans last night. I am going to put the football to one side for a second because obviously it was unacceptable, but I am convinced that we have a group of supporters that genuinely want us to fail. I was sat in Y/X block last night. Literally from the kick off some of the fans were on the players backs, the first time Washington received the ball a bloke stood up and hollered that he should 'fook off you fooking cant'. One of the first songs that was sung from that area was 'we're f...... sh.t'. Promptly followed up with 'how sh.t must you be, we're drawing 0-0'. Why?! It's a total embarrassment. I get the frustration, I don't think we should sit there and clap happily along as we get battered again, but please someone tell me how any of that helps? Was it just where I was sat? I hope so! |
| Forum Reply | where do we go from here? and where's the money? at 07:05 21 Aug 2018
I knew there would be a reason, thanks. That reinforces the idea that FFP isn't to keep clubs from imploding financially and is to keep the little clubs down, where they belong. |
| Forum Reply | where do we go from here? and where's the money? at 06:49 21 Aug 2018
This is probably a stupid question, but I am not shy of those... Why could TF/Tune/whoever not have done a Mike Ashley and sponsored the stadium/training ground/ellerslie road toilets for the money they wanted to pump in? Make it the Air Asia Bogs and pay £50m for the privilege, surely that would then become income in to the club and a way around the FFP rules? I'm not saying that is necessarily a model we should follow, throwing money at it doesn't work for us, but surely that could have kept FFP from the door? |
| Forum Thread | 6-a-side league advice at 07:20 18 Jan 2018
Wondering if any of you fine people have ever been involved in the running of a small sided league? Was thinking of setting one up in my local area but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether you need things like insurance, first aiders etc Anyone with any advice? Would be greatly appreciated! |
